Akwa Ibom State Governor, Udom Emmanuel, has assured the people of the state a continuous harvest of trophies in all spheres of human endeavour, as long as the people embraced the vision of his administration.

The governor said on Wednesday at the Ibom International Airport shortly on arrival with Akwa United FC, who beat Lobi Stars of Makurdi 2-1 to win the Federation Cup on Sunday in Lagos, that the victory was the first of many to come for the state.

The victory was the first for any football club in the former Cross River State in the 70 years history of the oldest and most glamorous soccer tournament in the country.

Udom, who was flanked by his wife, Martha, the state deputy governor, Mr. Moses Ekpo, the commissioner for Youth and sports, Mr. Monday Uko and the chairman of Akwa United FC, Mr Nse Ube, expressed delight for the honour done the state.

He noted that the team’s victory in the Federation Cup was in consonance with his declaration on September 28 where he told the world that Akwa Ibom State was seeing what they could not see.

That vision, he said, was the new greatness the people of the state have found, hence her desire to chart a new course for the generations yet unborn in the state.

The result, he added, was the victory being celebrated all over the country for Akwa Ibom State, stressing that the people of the state were people of great minds and resources, who were determined to rise above biases, ethnicity, gender, religion and embrace togetherness.

He also used the occasion to advise the people to desist from spewing ‘satanic propaganda,’ noting that what the state needed was progress and not divisiveness.
