Nigerian’s representatives in the Men’s team event of the international Table Tennis Federation (ITTF) African Club Championship holding in Yaounde, Cameroun from July 22 to 26, 2015, Union Bank Table Tennis Club of Lagos, will depart the country on Wednesday aboard an Arik Airline flight by 11.00 a.m., officials of the team have revealed.

According to Union Bank coach, Samson Ajayi, the team is made up of five players, including David Faleye, Ahmed Bello, Wale Olaniyi, Ogunlade Azeez and Junior sensational, Nurudeen Hassan.

Union Bank was chosen to represent Nigeria based on their excellent performance at the 2014 Nigerian Table Tennis Championship held from October 9 to 14, 2014 at the Molade Okoya Thomas Hall, Teslim Balogun Stadium, Lagos, according to the Nigeria Table- Tennis Federation.

Ajayi said he was optimistic of a good outing in Cameroun, adding, “The players are in good shape to do Union Bank and Nigeria proud at the continental tournament. They have trained very hard for the competition.”

He added that this would not the first time Union Bank would represent Nigeria in an African Championship having done so when Aruna Quadri-led the team to conquer Africa.

‘’We also did well in 2009 when we represented Nigeria in Togo and came back with the third position trophy. We also represented Nigeria in 2010 and 2011 in Morocco where we finished third because we arrived the venue late,’’ Ajayi stated.
