Victorious Oladapo, Otunla promise good representation in Las Vegas

The team of Oladapo Olaide and Dapo Otunla, who at the weekend won this year’s Transatlantic Golf Team Challenge at the IBB International Golf and Country Club Abuja, has promised to represent Nigeria credibly at the world final scheduled for Las Vegas, U.S., next year.

In the keenly contested 36-holes competition, the pair of Otunla and Oladapo grossed a total of 121-stableford points to beat 19 other pairs to the crown.

Though the outcome of the two-day competition turned in favour of Otunla and Oladapo, the pair of Mirabel Edozie and Amaechi Chigbo, also gave a good account of themselves, grossing a total of 121-stableford points but lost on count back to the winners.

The team of Oludare Bello and Dipo Sanya also reenacted the exploit of the famed Citec golf teams but their effort this time around was not enough as they returned an opening 54 and a closing 65 to come in the third position, while Team Infinity Homes of Banjo Obaleye and Jimmy Ahmed came fourth.

The pairs of Esosa Ojomo and the former governor of Osun State, Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola completed the top five teams in the competition.

Other notable golfers, who took part in the competition, are Okey Igwe, the Vice Captain and his pair, Kevin Allonso, Club captain, Hamid Abbo and his pair, Sanni Anka among others.

Speaking at the events prize giving ceremony, Remi Olukoya, TGTC representative in Nigeria, said the competition was put together because of the need to grow the game in the country, as well as launder the nation’s image through golf outside the country.
