Super Falcons Arrive Abuja

The Super Falcons of Nigeria have returned home to a hero’s welcome after winning their 10th Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) title in Morocco.

The team touched down at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja aboard a chartered flight at about 2:26 p.m., where a crowd of cheering fans and top government officials were on hand to receive them.

Among those present to welcome the team were the Minister of Information, Mohammed Idris; Minister of Culture and Tourism, Hanatu Musawa; and the Minister for Women Affairs, Imaan Sulaiman-Ibrahim.

Super Falcons’ captain Rasheedat Ajibade held the WAFCON trophy aloft as she alighted from the aircraft, drawing loud applause from supporters and dignitaries who had waited for hours at the airport.
