Warri Wolves jubilate after scoring a goal last season. The team is set for the 2016 CAF Champions League

In its bid to make good representation in this year’s CAF Champions League, the management of Warri Wolves is set to unveil some newly signed players in a ceremony slated for Thursday at the Warri City Stadium.

Also, the state government has completed renovation works in the stadium ahead of the first leg of the CAF Champions League match against their opponent from Sao Tome and Principe.

The match will hold this weekend (Lovers Day, February 14) with the Speaker of Delta House of Assembly, Monday Igbuya, serving as special guest of honor.

The sports-loving Igbuya is expected to lead the club’s supporters from various parts of the state to cheer Warri Wolves to victory on Sunday.

According to the management, Wolves have recruited some quality players during the transfer market to replace players, including top scorer last season, Gbolahan Salami.

Players like King Osanga, Jude Aneke and other new players will be introduced officially to fans of Warri Wolves on Thursday, just as arrangement has be concluded for a friendly match between Wolves and another Warri- based club and current Delta FA Cup champions, J Atete FC, immediately after the unveiling ceremony on Thursday.

Chairman of Delta Sports Commission, Tony Okowa, told The Guardian yesterday that renovation work had been carried out in some parts of Warri Stadium to give the complex a new look ahead the new season, particularly the CAF Champions League.

Okowa, who shifted base from Asaba to Warri yesterday in readiness for the CAF Champions League clash between Wolves and their opponent from Sao Tome and Principe this weekend, said everything needed for Wolves to give Nigerians a good Valentine celebration had been put in place.

“Apart from the renovation works in Warri Stadium, we have created an office for Warri Wolves FC and a conference hall within the complex. I am sure the club will do well this season both in the CAF Champions League and Glo Premier League,” Okowa said.
