Super Eagles assistant coach, Salisu Yusuf, will take charge of the home-based national team when they begin training in Port Harcourt on October 4 for the 2016 CHAN qualifier against Burkina Faso.

Super-EaglesSuper Eagles assistant coach, Salisu Yusuf, will take charge of the home-based national team when they begin training in Port Harcourt on October 4 for the 2016 CHAN qualifier against Burkina Faso.

The CHAN qualifier is fixed for October 18 in Port Harcourt with the return leg in Ouagadougou a week later.

The training camp for the game was originally planned for October 11, but the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) have now moved it forward to allow the home-based Eagles more time to prepare for the CHAN qualifier.

Eagles coach, Sunday Oliseh, will join the training camp after the friendly match against Cameroun in Belgium on October 11.

The development puts to rest the insinuation that the national Under-23 team would prosecute the qualifier.

NFF Media Officer, Ademola Olajire, yesterday clarified a statement credited to him on the game, saying the media misquoted him.

He insisted the home-based Eagles will play the game, but several members of the U23 team will be included in the team.
