The sin of immorality is no respecter of persons. In fact, it does not even respect your spirituality. Even in your private devotions, it is out to waylay you. There is no limit of height or depth to which this demon of immorality will not go in an attempt to destroy precious souls.

Know this, that the child of God who falls into such sins cannot be compared with one that steers clear. Look at the pedigree of Reuben. “Reuben thou art (1) my firstborn, (2) my might, (3) and the beginning of my strength, (4) the excellence of dignity, (5) and the excellency of power.” Genesis 49: 3. This was a young man that had everything going for him. But look at what became of him. “Unstable as water, thou shalt not excel; BECAUSE THOU WENTEST UP TO THY FATHERS BED, THEN DEFILEST THOU IT…” Genesis 49:4

Later, in Chronicles 5:1, we see that he lost his position as the firstborn. His birthright was taken from him and from there on, you never hear anything outstanding, no exploits were ever accomplished by Reuben. All this befell him because of the sin of immorality. It saps and cuts off God’s backing from one’s life, rendering him impotent, incapable of accomplishing any lasting feats, sending him to the grave as a nonentity, as one unable to affect his generation.

Earlier in my Christian life, the Holy Ghost began to explain to me 2 Timothy 1:12 “…For I know whom I have believed, and am persuaded that he is able to keep that which I have committed unto him against that day.” -That the Apostle Paul had also faced many things that he could not overcome purely by his own power. This led him into entering a binding commitment to God. And because Paul was able to keep his part of the bargain, he had the audacity to believe that God would keep His own part too.

Right there and then, I went down on my knees and entered a binding covenant with God. I made an expensive decision, to never to have sexual intercourse with any woman on this earth, except my God-given wife. I made an oath to the Lord that if I do so, six consequences will follow which will adversely affect my health, property, ministry and my family, indeed, everything relating to my success on earth will just disintegrate. By contrast, my keeping of this covenant will also affect those same six areas of my life positively, thus raising me to heightened success in all the endeavours of my life and ministry. Today, all six areas are affecting me positively. I have witnessed the Lord raising me to unbelievable heights. It was an expensive decision, but it has been worth it.

You too can enter into a covenant with the Lord. It is not unbiblical; others have done it. “AND THEY ENTERED INTO A COVENANT to seek the Lord God of their fathers with all their heart and with all their soul…And they sware unto the Lord…and the Lord gave them rest round about.” 2 Chronicles 15:12-15. NOTE: They did not wait for God to take the initiative; they took the initiative. THEY entered a covenant WITH GOD. (also Nehemiah 10:29).

You Can Have Victory Over Immorality
JESUS is the answer and the key to this issue of immorality. Look at the woman of Samaria who had been swimming in the ocean of adultery, having had no less than six men. The day she met with Jesus Christ, she made a clean break with her past life of sin and she never returned to it.

What about the woman caught in the very act of adultery? Jesus delivered her from her accusers and from being stoned to death. But on what ground? “Go and sin no more”. Jesus sets one free to live without sexual sin thereafter.

Of course, the Bible says we should flee from fornication. By implication, fornication is more powerful than the devil himself. Bible says if you are in a room and the devil enters inside, you should resist the devil AND HE WILL FLEE. But if fornication enters don’t resist it, don’t bind it, don’t pray, don’t speak in tongues, but flee!

Remember, Joseph fled from Potiphar’s wife. Remember, Paul declared, “I am a prisoner of the Lord Jesus Christ.” Daniel also purposed in his heart not to defile himself. These are men who bound themselves in oaths and covenants, and today, their names are immortalised in the Holy Scriptures.
Be Warned!

This Christian journey is not eating and drinking. There are many temptations to lure you and slay you on a daily basis. In order to survive, an expensive decision is needed. This is not to be done lightly or without calculating, because the recording angels of God (and the devil also) are ready to make sure all your covenants are fulfilled. It is a binding covenant. It is an expensive decision. I’ve witnessed several people affected by this covenant to their detriment, because of their own unfaithfulness. I’ve also witnessed countless hundreds who have been blessed and prospered by it. The choice is yours, but if you want to excel, you will choose to enter it. This is so because in the realm of the spirit, covenant is the highest level of operation.
