Key verse: 2 Chronicles 7:14: “If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land,” (KJV).
Revival is birthed through earnest prayer and hunger. True revival starts with prayer and a deep hunger for God’s presence. It is not about gathering crowds in churches, but about God filling individuals with His Spirit. Revival begins on our knees, and through prayer, the Spirit is poured out, changing lives and awakening the entire people.
Revival happens when hearts are hungry for more of God, when faith rises, and when obedience aligns with His will. True revival is about spiritual transformation of our lives. We are changed into His image and reflect His character. We must desire revival before it comes. A genuine cry for God’s intervention awakens His power. Believers must desire a fresh move of God, not just routine religion. The church should pray and seek the One that gives revival. The psalmist prayed in Psalm 85:6: “Wilt thou not revive us again: that thy people may rejoice in thee?”
Revival cannot happen without fervent, heartfelt prayers. The prayers of Elijah brought down the rain (1 Kings 18:41). Blind Bartimaeus cried out and moved Heaven to respond (Mark 10:47). It is the earnest cries of God’s people that move His hand. We must cry out with passion and desperation to capture Heaven’s attention. Humility attracts God’s presence, as the Bible says: “The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit: a broken and a contrite heart, O God, thou wilt not despise,” (Psalm 51:17). God dwells with the contrite and humble spirit. Pride, sin and self-sufficiency are major barriers to revival. Brokenness and repentance prepare the heart for revival fire.
Revival is not something we can do to ourselves, but a supernatural work of God’s Spirit within a heart that’s chosen to embrace brokenness before Him (Psalm 119:25). Revival is a divine flow of mercy and blessings into a heart that’s free to live transparent before the Lord and others (Ps. 24:3–5). Brokenness and revival are like the perfect blend of heat and sweet.
True revival brings spiritual awakening and joy. It revives individuals, families, and the church. When God revives His people, their testimony becomes visible. (Psalm 85:6). There must be evidence when we seek the face of God. Revival is a moment of change, and it brings relocation. When God revives His people, He changes their financial status. The moment of revival is a moment of opening of the spiritual eyes. Elisha asked God to open his servant’s eyes (2 Kings 6:17).
When God opens your spiritual eyes, you will receive divine direction and know which way to go. Refuse to be a blind Christian. Revival is for all believers and it’s a moment of liberation. When revival comes, closed wombs, closed doors and closed shops will be opened. When revival comes, every abandoned project will wear a new look. Zechariah 4:9: “The hands of Zerubbabel have laid the foundation of this house; his hands shall also finish it; and thou shalt know that the Lord of hosts hath sent me unto you.” Revival brings restoration to spiritual dryness just as Ezekiel prophesied to the dry bones and breath came into them and they came alive (Ezekiel 37:7). As God revived the dry bones, He is going to revive every dry spiritual life and business.
