Don Tasks Govt On Research Grants
PROF. OLALERE Adeyemi of the Redeemer’s University (RUN), Ede, Osun State, has called on government to make research grants accessible to all tertiary institutions across the country to enable them carry out researches.
Adeyemi stated this while delivering a lecture at the school’s second inaugural lecture titled, “Organometallics: A Fruitful Amalgamation Of Metal And Ligand,” held at the school’s auditorium.
The don suggested that Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFUND) should not only be disbursed to public tertiary institutions, but also to private tertiary institutions as well.
He stated that the research outputs of the school in quantity and quality qualifies it for grants without any discrimination, adding that basic science is the backbone of all applied sciences and must therefore, be sustained and well supported in Nigerian universities.
“The basic sciences must be supported and the staff and students must be motivated towards these directions in Nigerian Universities,” he said.
