Faithfizzy Relishes MAMA Experience
Though the 2015 MTV Africa Music Award (MAMA), which was staged in Durban, South Africa, has come and gone, memories of showpiece is still fresh in the minds of guests, who joined in the continental celebration.
Like the on and off air music celebrities, a number of music enthusiasts and fans were in Durban courtesy of South African Tourism to be part of the spectacular award ceremony.
One of those lucky music enthusiasts, who were at the event on the ticket of South Africa Tourism, is model and ushering agent Faith Omorogieva aka faithfizzy.
What started as a ‘joke’ on June 3, 2015, eventually turned a reality, when the Edo State native found herself aboard a South African Airline to Durban.
Faithfizzy recalled that she causally took part in a quiz programme on the facebook page of Beat FM, organised as part of the build up to the 2015 MAMA.
After about two weeks of taking part in the quiz, she was called up as one of the lucky winners with an all expenses paid trip to South Africa for MAMAs 2015. The package also includes five-day stay at a five star hotel in Durban. “July 3rd, 2015 happened to be one of the memorable days for me. I got a call from a Topcommng representative saying I won a quiz on the Beat FM Facebook page.
He also added that it was an all expenses paid trip to South Africa for MAMAs 2015 sponsored by South Africa Tourism. It was like a joke, because I took the call to be from a scammer,” she narrated.
However, the picture became clearer, when she was invited to Lagos to submit some documents ahead of the trip. “A week later, I was reminded by the same representative that the trip is in a week’s time; it really gave me a mixed feeling.
Eventually, I went to the airport to meet up with some other people from different media houses to board the flight to Johannesburg and later transferred to Durban,” she said.
On arrival in Durban, Faith was taken on a trip around beautiful sites, prior to the award ceremony. “We visited many beautiful sites in Durban including the Golden Mill, Ushaka Marine World where we watched the Dolphin and Penguin, and also the Zulu Dance. The Boat Cruise, which I did a shoki dance video on and lots more,” she enthused.
Of all the sites visited, Moses Mabhida Stadium was very remarkable for the young lady. “I did Bungee Jumping there; it was exciting and scary experience.
It’s like jumping the World’s tallest swing from a stadium roof. Before that, we had to climb 352 steps to the platform where we jumped from; that’s one of the biggest risks I have ever taken.
But after the jump, the fear disappeared and the excitement came back, when I got a Guinness World Record Certificate, which indicates that I’m a record breaker.”
The crowning moment for Faith was the MTV African Music Awards ceremony staged at the ICC Durban. “We were all set for the Limo ride to the pre-party, where I met some of African Ace Stars such as P-Square, Davido, Lynxx, including American music star Neyo.
The next day was the party where I also got another Limo transfer to the MAMA’s big night were all the big stars shared one stage doing what they know how to do best. Finally, five days were over and we headed back to Nigeria,” she said.
