Foursquare Gives Out Motorcycle, Crash Helmets To Okada Riders

IN its usual characteristic manner of touching lives in its host community, the Foursquare Gospel Church, Temidire, Sango, Ogun State, has given out a brand new motorcycle to a commercial motorcycle rider, popularly called Okada, Mr. Bamgbose Aruna.

At the appreciation service held at the church, the recipient emerged through a raffle draw. Four others went home with crash helmets, while each of the riders present got tyre tubes.

The Senior Pastor/District Overseer, Rev. Ayomide Abraham, who presented the new bike, said the gesture was part of the church’s activities to appreciate its immediate community, because of the need to be relevant to them.
“The church is not ostracised from the community and it must be relevant to it. The church cannot fold its arms from meeting the needs of the society when the need arise, despite our limited resources. What we are doing is to appreciate these people, who risk their lives.
“A lot of people would say they are doing their businesses and need not to be appreciated, but we must know that whenever anybody renders services, you need to appreciate them.

Our appeal to government of the day is to ensure it meets the needs and aspirations of citizens.”
While noting that in 2013, the church spent N2.3m to open the Temidire road, which had been abandoned for years, by hiring dredgers and road graders, he noted that there is a level at which it can operate because of limited funds.

An official of the Okada riders, Ahmed Alaye, lauded the church for the gesture, adding that their regular rehabilitation of the inner roads had minimised their trouble. He prayed for God’s abundant blessing on the church in their mission of uplifting the community.
