Text: Judges 13; 14,15

Key Verse: Judges 13:7, “But he said unto me, Behold, thou shalt conceive, and bear a son; and now drink no wine nor strong drink, neither eat any unclean thing: for the child shall be a Nazarite to God from the womb to the day of his death.” (KJV)

Samson was one of those whose birth was prophesied before he was born. Samuel was another through prayer; Solomon was another and John the Baptizer was another. The angel of the Lord on its third visit to Samson’s father and mother reiterated before Manoah, Samson’s father to beware of all the instructions he had passed unto the wife on his earlier visits, that he should not allow her to eat anything that comes from the vine (fresh or dried grapes); neither should she drink wine, strong drink, nor eat any unclean thing because she will bear a special child who will be a Nazarite to God, right from the mother’s womb to the day of his death. This was so by the law of Moses, and particularly by the law of the Nazarites. They prayed to God to teach them what to do unto the child to be born and of course, God answered their prayer.

The challenge is that “the child should be holy till the day of his death” (Judges 13:7). As a pastor, the challenge is that you should be holy until the day you die and as a believer, you should be holy till the day of your death. This is a big challenge because there are so many things perking at us trying to remove the breast belt of holiness; trying to remove the one on our forehead and trying to remove the atmosphere of holiness that God Has helped us to create around ourselves purposely by Christ, the Holy Spirit and the word.

The angel of the Lord visited Samson’s Father and mother three times repeating the same thing to them on each visit. It was first said to the woman, the woman returned and said the same thing to the husband and the Angel came back and repeated the same thing to both of them (Judges 13:5,7 & 14). It is the same thing that God is telling us today, be ye holy, for I am holy. Anyone who wants to be used to the Lord must be holy. Some of us have been looking for why certain things are not happening in the church, some of us have been asking why we are not seeing God move in certain ways, for every genuine move of God, there is holiness, sanctification and consecration behind it. For every genuine move of God, somebody has surrendered himself to the Lord. We are to be holy until we die no matter what the devil is saying; no matter how he is struggling, the separated life is our portion. If you want the Lord to use you, you must live a separate life.

My prayer is that every one of us will separate ourselves unto God and when a man separates himself totally and completely to God, he will not be like an ordinary man. My prayer is why will all the pastors not separate themselves? Why will all the church leaders not separate themselves? Why must we wait for one person to separate himself and then be different from others? By living this separated life, we reject sin, we reject every abomination, we reject everything that will not bring glory unto God and then we cling unto God and God alone.

Today’s Nugget: Separate yourself unto God
