Manytimes, we think that God is ignorant of our troubles, sufferings and situations. But, he is not! He knows about all the problems that touch us and silently, works to redress them.
One of the affirmations of the Christian faith is that God is omniscient, by this we mean that He knows all things. The word omniscience is not found anywhere in the Bible, but the truth about God being omniscient is revealed throughout the pages of the Bible. God knows all things, including the past and future. There is nothing that eludes God’s knowledge, especially when it concerns His covenant children. He knows what each of us is going through. He knows about your sufferings and pains.
God declared His prescient knowledge of Jeremiah to counter his reluctance and excuses when He called him. “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you; before you were born I sanctified you; I ordained you a prophet to the nations,” (Jeremiah 1:5 NKJV).
God confirmed to Moses that he knew him by name when Israel faced the crisis of rebellion in the wilderness. “Then Moses said to the Lord, see,You say to me, ‘bring up this people.’ But You have not let me know whom You will send with me. Yet You have said, ‘I know you by name, and you have also found grace in My sight.’ So the Lord said to Moses, ‘I will also do this thing that you have spoken; for you have found grace in My sight, and I know you by name,’” (Exodus 33:12, 17 NKJV).
There is nothing about us that God does not know. He knows the number of hairs on our heads; He knows everything in our thoughts. The Psalmist said: “For there is not a word on my tongue, but behold, O Lord, You know it altogether. You have hedged me behind and before, and laid Your hand upon me. Such knowledge is too wonderful for me; it is high, I cannot attain it,” (Psalms 139:4-6 NKJV).
God’s detailed knowledge about David overwhelmed the Psalmist. “Many, O Lord my God, are Your wonderful works which You have done; and Your thoughts toward us cannot be recounted to You in order; if I would declare and speak of them, they are more than can be numbered,” (Psalms 40:5 NKJV).
God is not only mindful of us, but His knowledge leads Him to work out his purpose for us. To each of us, God has a plan and a destiny. His unrelenting love for us makes Him carry out His purposes even when we are unmindful of them. “And we know that God…causes all things to work together…for good for those who love God, to those who are called according to His plan and purpose,” (Romans 8:28 AMP). Thus, when we complain like Isaiah did in Chapter 40:27, it is because of our ignorance of who God is. God knows and cares about us.
