We have been called unto righteousness and we should not back away from this call. God calls us to holiness and holiness must be the church’s trademark and watchword. We have been chosen to be holy. Trusting the sufficient blood of Christ will not only cover our sins, but will wash them away. Holiness is the intent of God’s salvation, which enables us to walk in God’s Will. God wants us to walk in holiness, and He is ready to grant us the ability to do so. We can’t dare to stand on any other foundation. It is high time we stopped making excuses. It’s clearly stated in God’s Word that we should flee from sin, but we feel it’s permitted to sin a little and not too much. Every form of sin is prohibited, whether big or small. An Unholy individual can’t enjoy the love of God, peace, joy, goodness, kindness, gentleness and self-control that come with the fruit of the spirit. Holiness is being like Christ.
We are meant to be holy as our God is holy. Seeing Jesus makes you see the Father. Jesus has set us examples to follow. You have to know Christ for you to be like Him. If you don’t know Him, you can’t be like Him. We need the Holy Spirit of God to overcome sin because working to live a holy life without the Holy Spirit may lead to failure. If we are still trying to overcome a particular sin in our lives, but we are even more drawn to it, we need the Holy Spirit. Our God is light; we need to think more of Him and His holiness. That brings us close to light. In God, darkness disappears. Drawing closer to the light exposes sin in our lives.
Repenting and confessing these sins, cleanses us from all forms of unrighteousness. “And an highway shall be there, and a way, and it shall be called The way of holiness; the unclean shall not pass over it; but it shall be for those: the wayfaring men, though fools, shall not err therein” (Isaiah 35:8). One day, we will leave this world to give account of our sojourn on earth. Let’s be prepared!
