‘Wherefore let him that thinketh he standeth take heed lest he fall.’ 1 Corinthians 10:12
Many people are losing grip with God though they still carry the various Christian titles, speak in tongues and speak the Christian language. Apostle Paul advises us to be careful so we don’t fall from grace.

Taking example from Lucifer, you will discover that he was God’s favourite yet he fell. He was beautiful and perfect just as you may think you are beautiful and perfect (Ezekiel 28:12). Always take a humble disposition to life and stay connected to God. Often, pride comes like righteousness, especially to those who have taken a ministry of fault-finding, and to always criticise others. You feel good and holy but you are going down to perdition.
If you don’t want to fall from grace, consider these:

• Avoid the façade of perfection and be real. Many people are not real but are pretenders; they pretend everything is fine and they are good.

• Be careful when you think you are very wise. Lucifer was the wisest of creation (Ezekiel 28:12). The Bible enjoins us to pray for wisdom, not worldly wisdom to outsmart people. Lucifer was also perfect in beauty, very appealing and attractive to people. That everyone likes you does not make you a saint or acceptable to God. Be careful how you celebrate your beauty, it could be dangerous and you may realise it when it is too late.

• I have been a Christian for many years ‘mentality,’ and in this church, I am a pioneer member in this ministry, church, etc. – be careful. Lucifer was there from the beginning.
Thou hast been in Eden the garden of God;… Ezekiel 28:13

• Lucifer has prosperity and great endowment, which are not bad but the problem is how people change with endowments or when blessings come. Pride often is a gradual process.

• If you are skilful and gifted, add to it a good character. Many are carried away with electrifying performances without good character. Lucifer has it (Ezekiel 28:13, Ecclesiastes 7:1).

• Feeling you are highly anointed? Lucifer too was highly anointed and yet was banished from his exalted position. Be wise – Ezekiel 28:14-15.

Lucifer was appointed and had free access to God. He walked up and down till he felt on top of the world “nobody like me.” Don’t ever forget you are under authority and can be dethroned (Ezekiel 28:14).

• Remember, the fundamental requirement of a minister is faithfulness and this was never an attribute of Lucifer (Ezekiel 28:15). But every steward should be faithful – 1 Corinthians 4:2.
Often, it is the gifts and talents that destroy people.
Lucifer was highly anointed and he fell highly too.

Thou art the anointed cherub that covereth; and I have set thee so: thou wast upon the holy mountain of God; thou hast walked up and down in the midst of the stones of fire.

Thou wast perfect in thy ways from the day that thou wast created, till iniquity was found in thee. Ezekiel 28:14 – 15
Why you can fall?

• If iniquity is found in you (Ezekiel 28:15). Be careful not to become proud – Ezekiel 28:17, Proverbs 16:18, Proverbs 29:23.

• When you feel discontented, unsatisfied with your position, who you are, and feel you are better and bigger than what you are doing – Isaiah 14:12-15. Lucifer was not contented to stay in his position; he desired to be higher than God.
But godliness with contentment is great gain. 1Timothy 6:6

• Always appreciate your place in the ministry and others. God does not judge to reward by how long you have been in a church but your commitment, obedience and contribution to His kingdom growth (Matthew 20:1-16).

• Don’t be full of yourself, and conceited as Lucifer – Isaiah 14:14. Don’t have an exaggerated impression of yourself and abilities, but be humble and prefer others, give others a chance also.

• Remember from where you are coming that you were made, helped by people and created by God who also loves others (Ezekiel 28:14 -15).

• You are not self-made. I have in my few years seen men boast albeit arrogantly that they became who they are through hard work and intelligence. This is pride. You were made through various helps and contribution of all who has come your way; be humble. If you are appointed or you occupy any office, you can also be removed by man or God (1 Corinthians 4:7).

• Forgetfulness is a cankerworm that leads to ingratitude and ingratitude leads to rebellion. Most rebellious people are forgetful of how they got to where they are – they chose and deliberately forget the process. They only speak of their point.

• Avoid self-deception – It is self-deceit for Lucifer to say he will be like God ((Isaiah 14:4). Many people wish to be like others or their superior. Stay in your office and grow.
For I say, through the grace given unto me, to every man that is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think soberly, according as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith, Romans 12:3.
