Baba Farombi launches training programme for pastors, ministers
At 79, Dr. Gabriel Olusoji Farombi is still going strong, as he spends his time travelling around the world – teaching and preaching the gospel. After his long-term service as the general superintendent of the Foursquare Gospel Church in Nigeria, Dr. Farombi has gone on to establish the Refreshing Ministries International (RMI), an interdenominational prayer-based ministry, which offers members opportunity for fellowship and prayer. RMI also serves as a training platform for ministers looking to hone their pastoral skills and expertise.
The organisation recently hosted its 9th annual convention themed: ‘Higher Ground,’ which held in Maplewood, Minnesota, and led by Ruth Akintade of the Royal Priesthood Fellowship International. The event was graced by ministers from various parts of the United States and from around the world, especially Nigeria. Participants learned how to evangelise, using new technologies, just as they engaged in an all-night vigil service.
A favourite session was led by Pastor Regina Kehinde of the Foursquare Gospel Church in Queens Village, New York, which guided ministers on how to properly balance their personal, family, professional, emotional and spiritual life. Often times, most church programmes are void of conversations discussing balance and practical tips on how to live a well-rounded life, hence the delivery of this session was particularly unique and engaging.
There was so much to learn from the three-day event, which was based on the premise that no one is perfect. Therefore, servants of God need to keep working on themselves and their salvation, especially how to hold each other accountable.
The best surprise was that attendees got to meet the man, who led Dr. Farombi to Christ. This was a wonderful honour and an amazing experience. In addition to serving as the General Overseer Emeritus of Foursquare Gospel Church in Nigeria, Farombi is also one of the coordinators of African Strategic Leadership Prayer Network and author of several books.
The next training programme will take place in 2018 and this is an event that you do not want to miss. There is still so much to learn from Farombi and his team.
