Bishop tasks FG on suffering Nigerians

As Diocese Celebrates 17
The Bishop, Diocese of Lagos West, Church of Nigeria, Anglican Communion, Rt. Revd. James Olusola Odedeji has advised the Federal Government to be sensitive to the plight of the citizens, saying the country is very harsh for Nigerians at the moment.

At the 17th anniversary of the inauguration of the Church at Archbishop Vining Memorial Church Cathedral (AVMCC), Ikeja, Lagos, recently, Odedeji who spoke on “Our Faithful Shepherd,” noted that the nation is presently going through a lot of challenges that had adversely affected the masses.

He said: “The country is unstable. The security is porous. The economic situation of the country is unfriendly. People are becoming criminals, in fact, most people are now criminals in the country. Everybody is looking for ways to survive. And when they cannot survive honestly, they will survive by turning to crime.

“I have said it once, if a poor man cannot eat, the rich man cannot sleep. The people don’t have food on their tables. And a hungry man is an angry man. And an angry man is a mad man,” he remarked.

The cleric, however, appealed to Nigerians to be patient with their leaders, and also engage in honest jobs so that the country can be better for all citizens.

On anniversary of the diocese, Odedeji said the diocese gathered at the first church to appreciate God’s goodness and mercy and to commit the fresh year unto the Lord. He said despite the recession and the challenges the nation faced, the country still needs to pray.
