Can You Not Discern The Present Time?

Luke 12: 55-56 says: “And when ye see the south wind blow, ye say, there will be heat; and it cometh to pass. 56 Ye hypocrites, ye can discern the face of the sky and of the earth; but how is it that ye do not discern this time?”

IT is surprising that the people of the world have ignored all the signs of the impending doom that is about to befall humanity at the instance of the antichrist. They have refused to give heed to the loud noise about rapture and the fate of sinners.
They have taken for granted the Almighty God’s patience in waiting for them to repent before the world is destroyed. They are aware that their iniquities have surpassed that of the world of Noah and the city of Sodom and Gomorrah, yet they are not concerned. The warning that there is an acceptable time allowed for their repentance never changes their attitude toward sin.

It is amazing that the people of this world boast of their scientific prowess, including the ability to read the sign of nature so as to predict what kind of earth quake that will happen, when and where it will happen but could not recognise what the present time is and what is required of them. They could at once read the signs of nature so as to declare what kind of storm is coming, its magnitude and speed, but could not see the world making a full circle of itself, thus making way for its extinct.

They could accurately analyse a political situation and predict the outcome, but yet could not recognise the presence of antichrists in all the corners of the world. They could predict outcome of capital market with precision and yet could not read all the signs of the last days, or the celebration of abomination by the people of the world and the uncommon occurrences being witnessed today. They do not know that all these signify the end of the ends. One then wonders how is it that they know everything, but do not know how to interpret this time, which all indices have proven to be the last privilege offered to man for repentance?

No wonder that our Lord Jesus called them, “hypocrites” because of their blindness even with their eyes opened. They could see but would not perceive because they desired not to know the truth. Our Lord would have the people to be as wise in the concerns of their souls, as they were in outward affairs. He would have them discern the way of God towards them, so that they would prepare accordingly.

So it is today with those who are wilfully blind to the steps God is taking to restore man. God expected man to be able to discern that He is about to judge this generation. And the generation should know they have now an opportunity, which may not last long and which they may never have again. All the killings going on in the world today, whether through abortion, war, kidnapping, robbery, etc. are all warning signs of what is about to befall mankind, if they remain adamant to God’s word.
2Co 6:2 says, “(For he saith, I have heard thee in a time accepted, and in the day of salvation have I succoured thee: behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation.)”

A wise man is known by his ability to discern the time, such as the men of Issachar, who had understanding of the times in the Bible days. But now the wise men of this generation with all their know-how could not discern that this time is the time to depart from iniquities and seek God with all their hearts. It is a pity that man has refused to understand that this time is the time to reconcile with his Creator.
