Church offers free medical treatment to Idimu community

Over 600 patients, comprising Christians and non-Christians have benefitted from the free medical treatment organised by Kingdom of Light Ministries (KLM), in collaboration with Kingdom Care Group Department for Idimu community and environs, last week. The programme, which started eight years ago, according to the Presiding Pastor, Dr. Samson Makinwa, was used to meet the health challenges of persons, especially those living in the Idimu axis of Lagos. He said the church usually uses the occasion to reduce the hardship people are facing in this recession period. During the programme, different medical personnel were engaged to address health challenges of patients in the community.

Advising patients to adopt a healthy lifestyle, Dr. Violet Iheanacho said they should eat the right food, exercise regularly, live in serene and clean environment, as well as drink clean water and avoid self-medication, especially local herbs, with no appropriate dosage. The patients were tested and screened for different ailments such as hepatitis, blood group, diabetic, hypertension and eye test, among others. They were also given free eyeglasses and drugs.

Describing what the church has done as service to humanity, Pastor Makinwa, said: “KLM, through the Kingdom Care Group, has been sponsoring students to various institutions of learning from primary to university level and we also offer free educational materials. The church has donated boreholes and street lights to the community, and has been maintaining adjoining roads and cleaning the surrounding in the community.

On how to overcome recession, the Presiding Pastor urged Nigerians to be patient with government. He advised them to engage in agriculture and small and medium scale entrepreneurship (SME). The Chairman of Kingdom Care Group, Brother Uche Nwogu, said the church also gave out such foodstuff as rice, vegetable oil, tomatoes, cooking ingredients and money to less privileged persons during the Yuletide.
