Supreme Head, The Mount Shiloh Praying Band of the Holy Cherubim and Seraphim, His Grace Baba Aladura, Henry Babatunde Phillips has called for national repentance, saying the current calamities in the nation, including economic downturn was brought by the celebration of Festac 77, which came with a lot of idols to the country.

The cleric spoke at the church’s Diamond Jubilee anniversary with the theme: “Rehoboth,” where he urged the Church and Nigerians to seek God’s Face for mercy, as He is always willing to forgive.

The Supreme Head noted that Nigeria is a land full of natural resources and should not suffer any lack, but decided to hold Festac 77, which dimmed its light through celebration of idols.

He advised President Buhari to organise a prayer of mercy and lead Nigerians, so that God would restore the lost glory.

He also reminded the President that Nigeria is a secular country and should jettison the idea of going to Organisation of Islamic Countries (OIC) to borrow money, adding that if there was need to do so, then he should allow his Vice, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo to go to the Vatican and borrow money to balance the equation.

He also counselled the President to endure criticism and have listening ears, as a civilian President, he should develop thick skin to issues.

On the issue of Fulani herdsmen, Phillips warned him not to go ahead with the Ruga settlement Project in Nigeria because the nation belongs to many tribes and not the Fulani alone.
