Bible Passage: Ps. 74:13-14, Ezekiel 29:1-5, Job 41:1-34
“In that day the LORD with his sore and great and strong sword shall punish leviathan the piercing serpent, even leviathan that crooked serpent; and he shall slay the dragon that [is] in the sea,” Isaiah 27:1.

Leviathan is the name of the principality that attacked Job in the scripture. His main influence is with spiritual pride and stopping deliverance.

Job 41:34 says, “He beholdeth all high [things]: he [is] a king over all the children of pride.” When this spirit is operating in the life of an individual, it makes him/her to be very arrogant.

I remember one of the encounters, we had with this principality during a deliverance session. When we were praying for a particular lady, the principality manifested and introduced himself as the great dragon that lieth under the river and uses the destiny of men to swim. He is also responsible for so many bloodshed. Eventually, by the name of Jesus and the word of God, the lady was delivered.

I decree today to a reader of this publication, every satanic attack against your life will scatter by fire in Jesus name.

This principality always puffs up the pride of people. He sets them up with false confidence and deceive them into placing their worth and identity on what they can do rather than who they are. He makes them to trust in their gifting and ability alone rather than to put their trust in God.

The transliterated Hebrew word for leviathan means, “twisted” and “coiled.” Like the meaning indicated, he is responsible for twisting the word of God. He stops the spiritual growth in people. He can make a Christian to be busy without praying and studying the word of God. Such person when he/she reads the word of God, there will be no comprehension. The word will be understood out of context, like Satan tried to do to Jesus.

Matthew 4:5-6 “Then the devil taketh him up into the holy city, and setteth him on a pinnacle of the temple, And saith unto him, If thou be the Son of God, cast thyself down: for it is written, He shall give his angels charge concerning thee: and in [their] hands they shall bear thee up, lest at any time thou dash thy foot against a stone.”

Psalm 91:11-12 “For he shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways. They shall bear thee up in [their] hands, lest thou dash thy foot against a stone.”

This principality also makes people to fight against deliverance ministry and deliverance ministers; making them to believe that there is no need for deliverance.

Leviathan is also responsible for confusion and division. In the Greek world, he is called “the god of chaos.” The principality is attacking the body of Christ today. We see churches, ministers and Christian organisations fighting against each other, even to the extent of publically criticising one another because of doctrinal differences. A good example is the issue of Tithing. Most of these divisions are promoted by the principality called leviathan. This is the time the church in Nigeria needs to unite and confront the demon responsible for bloodshed in this nation rather than fight over trivial issues like collection of tithes.

Just like Jesus said in Matt. 16:18, “And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.” the church is marching on, the gate of hell shall not prevail against it in Jesus name.

The Lord promised to slay the dragon leviathan in Isaiah 27:1. “In that day the LORD with his sore and great and strong sword shall punish leviathan the piercing serpent, even leviathan that crooked serpent; and he shall slay the dragon that [is] in the sea.” All we need to do to tackle this principality is to enforce the victory that Jesus has given to us on the cross of Calvary (Colossians 2:15 “[And] having spoiled principalities and powers, he made a shew of them openly, triumphing over them in It.”)

Firstly, we must be sure we are born again and repent from every sin. Secondly, we must take our stand and wage war against this principality.
