‘Emulate women of virtue, not women of negative influence’

The Bishop of Asaba Diocese Church of Nigeria (Anglican Communion), Rt. Rev. Kingsley Chukwukamadu Obuh has called on the Diocesan women not to fashion their lives after the likes of Eve, Sarah, Rebecca and Job’s wife, saying they were negative influence to their husbands and anything godly.

Speaking, last Sunday, at the Thanksgiving Service to mark the end of the 45th yearly Diocesan Women Conference with the theme: “Be You Living Epistles,” held at St. John’s Anglican Church, Asaba, Delta State, Obuh reminded the Christian women that they are living epistles people read on daily basis.

The cleric said that the women are being read like a book as long as they are still alive, and urged them to cultivate virtues that will attract people to Christ, rather than repel them.

Obuh called them to be submissive to their husbands and endeavour to impact positively on people that come across them as other Biblical women did in their time.

“You are the living epistles that will be read and remembered for good like Lois, the grandmother of Timothy and his mother Eunice or Jechobed, the mother of Moses who was determined to risk her life to save her son,” the Bishop stated.

President of the Asaba Diocesan Anglican Women’s Organisation (ADAWO), Mrs Comfort Nkechinyere Obuh, who is also the Bishop’s wife, presided over the conference.
