Freedom through God’s word – Part 2

The Lord does not reject anyone who is willing to turn away from sin and follow Him wholeheartedly. Any sinner who accepts Christ as Lord and Saviour, and renounces the works of darkness “shall receive remission of sins.” Therefore, “Wash you, make you clean; put away the evil of your doings from before mine eyes; cease to do evil. Come now, and let us reason together, saith the LORD: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool.” Since Christ bore our suffering, shame and punishment on the cross, no one can substitute salvation with good works.

To be saved, you must “believe on the Lord Jesus Christ”. God’s mercy is available for those who will humbly confess and forsake their sins. But those who reject it will end up in eternal damnation. The best time for backsliders and sinners to seek the Lord for the salvation of their souls is now. “Seek ye the LORD while he may be found, call ye upon him while he is near: Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts: and let him return unto the LORD, and he will have mercy upon him; and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon.”

Salvation brings regeneration and newness of life. This regeneration takes away condemnation, guilt and accusation of Satan. Having accepted Christ as Lord and Saviour, the Philippian jailor in the Acts of the Apostles, washed the stripes of Paul and his companion, as evidence of the change in his life. Anyone who is truly saved receives the grace, power and strength to “go, and sin no more.”

Salvation experience comes with power, righteousness, renewal, transformation, and offers believers the hope of eternal life. When Paul the apostle, who “was before a blasphemer, and a persecutor, and injurious…” met the Lord, he was transformed and began to “walk in newness of life”.

Total identification with the Lord makes us new creatures. Having been crucified with Christ, we must continue to live “by the faith of the Son of God, Who gave Himself for (us)”. Those who claim to be born again but secretly indulge in sins do not have the grace, which makes true believers happy and sustains them on the path of holiness and righteousness.

“Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God”. Herein lies true freedom, true independence in this life, and grants access to God all through eternity.
