Gleanings from the life of samson – Part 9

Delilah fails in her first two attempts to sexually lure Samson into disclosing to her the secret of his strength, but she didn’t give up and pressed further for the third time. On his part, Samson refused to go away, but rather remained on the laps of Delilah because he had broken the vow. Sin is dangerous because it is capable of making a person to get more and more callous; more and more hardened; more and more brash and more brazen. When a person gets involved in sexual scandalous sin; that was never the first step. If a person doesn’t handle his “Timnaths,” he is going to end up in Gaza.

Delilah came the third time and said to Samson, “Until now you have mocked me and told me lies. Tell me what you may be bound with.” Delilah was coming nearer because Samson was having sex with her and had completely broken the vow. He had defiled himself and as you defile yourself, that is how the anointing will go. As you live in adultery, the anointing will go. The enemy will tell you, live in adultery, you will get more power to do exploits. Those are fake things; they are not of God, Who does not lead anybody to adultery. The enemy will say go ahead with fornication and you will become more powerful. The man will go and fornicate and he will come back and perhaps do some things and he will go and tell himself, now I have arrived. God does not send anybody to fornication; God doesn’t send anybody to adultery and God doesn’t send anybody to sin. Sin has never been God’s way of doing things.

Samson said to Delilah, “If you weave the seven locks of my hair with the web and fasten it with the pin, then I will be weak like any other man”. What is wrong with this Samson? He really wants to be like other men. Do you want to be like any other man and the devil has been coming, pushing and you keep talking to the Devil and the Devil is coming nearer to slay you completely? Please, retrace your footsteps, so that you don’t end your spiritual journey in Gaza. Delilah wove Samson’s hair tightly with the batten of the loom, and said to him, “The Philistines are upon you, Samson!” But he awoke from his sleep, and pulled out the batten and the web from the loom.

The first time, Samson escaped; the second time, he escaped and the third time, he escaped but in her fourth try, her words seem to have an effect on Samson. Delilah said to him, how could you say that you love me, when your heart is not with me? You have lied to me three times and have not told me where your great strength lies. The Bible said it came to pass when she pestered him daily, he told her the secret of his strength. Why did he remain there? The man was dying in stages. There must be some of us dying instalmentally, these things always happen. Dying instalmentally and dying in stages, the glory is departing, the power is departing, and the relationship with God is breaking down in stages. Remember it started in “not too bad” Timnaths and now in dangerous, Gaza. This is elimination in stages. My prayer is that you will not end your walk with God in Gaza.

Today’s Nugget: Do not end your walk with God in Gaza.
Prayer: Lord, help me not to end my spiritual journey in Gaza
