God’s covenant of peace and blessings – Part 2

Beloved, of a truth, Easter has come and gone, though not with its usual pomp and grandeur because many were not allowed by reason of the lockdown meant to curtail further spread of the COVID-19 pandemic to express their love and gratitude to God Almighty for sending His Son as a propitiation for our sin. Indeed, the joy of many were scuttled but it didn’t diminish the fact that Christ is risen and God’s covenant of peace and blessing is refreshed. Philippians 1:18 says, “What then? Notwithstanding, every way, whether in pretence, or in truth, Christ is preached; and I therein do rejoice, yea, and will rejoice.”

Whichever way this year’s Easter was celebrated, I must let you understand that our repentance is absolutely necessary in order to receive salvation and be partakers of the peace and blessing embedded in the covenant availed by the death, burial and resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ. Your reluctance or failure to receive salvation wherever you might be this time, having taken note of the peril that has befallen the world, is an invitation of crises to yourself, the world and hell fire at last. If one has not seen why he/she must repent now, then such a person has received a reprobate mind. Anyone who wilfully stands against a moving train; looks for no other thing than painful death. This is because God has offered to all, a spiritual palliative through Jesus Christ, a gateway of escape from eternal damnation, which was earmarked for mankind as a result of Adam’s disobedience. Without accepting Christ as Saviour, one is bound to suffer forever.

John 16:33 says, “These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.”

The only sure foundation of peace and blessing for anybody in this world depends entirely upon acknowledging Christ’s victory over death, for in Him, we will be thoroughly quietened physically, spiritually and financially.

The above spiritual counselling is the conclusion of our Saviour’s farewell sermon to the people of the world, who want to save their lives. Christ has, by His resurrection, defeated death and by extension the crises in the world. But we must know that the victory is only for those that have repented and accepted the renewed and refreshed covenant. Our God is the covenant-keeping God, and will never disappoint whoever that entered into covenant with Him by accepting Him as his personal Saviour. So, if you are reading this message, you should make up your mind to seek God in true righteousness and holiness for Him to appear in glory and shower you with blessing. The covenant of peace and blessing could only be better experienced in a state of holiness and righteousness.

When it looks like your relationship with God is soured by reason of sin, unfaithfulness or separation from Him, you must not hesitate to have the covenant refreshed in order to rebuild your relationship with Him. When it seems there is no peace and progress or the enemies and his human agents are having advantage over you, you must make haste to seek God and have your covenant refreshed. This is because no evil comes upon individuals or nations without and He is able and ready, when you are duly humbled, to remove the problems and manifest towards you new tokens of His favour, as enshrined in the covenant.

2Chron. 7: 13-15 sys, “If I shut up heaven that there be no rain, or if I command the locusts to devour the land, or if I send pestilence among my people; 14 If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land. 15 Now mine eyes shall be open, and mine ears attent unto the prayer that is made in this place.”

It is expected that as many that dishonoured God by action of deeds and thoughts must be reasonable enough to humble themselves and turn from their wicked ways, and return to the God from whom they have revolted to appeal to His mercy. And it is only on this premise that they will be brought into the covenant of peace and blessing, availed to us by Christ’s victory.

2Chron. 15: 1- 2 says, “And the Spirit of God came upon Azariah the son of Oded: 2 And he went out to meet Asa, and said unto him, Hear ye me, Asa, and all Judah and Benjamin; The LORD is with you, while ye be with him; and if ye seek him, he will be found of you; but if ye forsake him, he will forsake you.”

Those who keep close to God shall always have His presence with them. When there are prevailing adverse situations like poverty, sickness, barrenness, miscarriages, persecution, no peace or even the COVID-19 pandemic, we should realise the fact that the wicked one is at work and quickly make haste to take refuge under the covenant. I don’t know the difficulties you are facing now, neither do I know how many years you have been subjected to such misery or who is behind it, what I know and advising you is to make haste and come under the coverage of the covenant. If you have tested positive for Covid-19, I want to tell you it is not a death sentence. What the Lord is demanding from you is to seek for His intervention, and it shall be well with you. If that business has refused to progress to your favour, if that health problem has defied solution, if your spouse has left you or you are having disappointment, never mind. There is hope freely made available by the provision of the covenant. All you need to do is to come into the covenant and it shall be well with you.

Remember, if you ignore the need for His ordinances and forsake Him, He is not tied to you, but will certainly forsake you, and then you are undone, even your assumed present triumphs will be no security to you. God has set before us what will be the dangerous consequence of forsaking Him and His ordinances, and there is no way of having our grievances redressed, but by repenting, and returning unto God. Nobody can have real life solution, peace, progress, blessing and permanent victory without the Lord on his side.

Many men in the Bible days escaped the storms of life because they had God by their side. Such men like Joshua, Caleb, David, Solomon, Shadrack, Daniel, Meshach, Abednego, Elijah and Elisha, among others, were all victorious in life because they had God by their side. So, whenever there is problem and it is traced to be as a result of sin and unfaithfulness, you should repent and reconcile with your God, so there will be restoration.

Joel 2: 23- 24 says, “Be glad then, ye children of Zion, and rejoice in the LORD your God: for he hath given you the former rain moderately, and he will cause to come down for you the rain, the former rain, and the latter rain in the first month. 24 And the floors shall be full of wheat, and the fats shall overflow with wine and oil.”

If you can repent from your iniquity and confess your sin today, I am assuring that you shall experience positive transformation in all your life endeavours. God has done everything to ensure you are not perished, and God’s blessing doesn’t elude you. Therefore, do the needful and victory shall be yours in Jesus name.

Our Lord Jesus said in the Book of Matt. 11: 28, “Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.” Here, we have a sweet invitation, backed with a gracious encouragement. Our Lord Jesus Christ is inviting such as are weary of the burden of sin, of the slavery of Satan, of the yoke of poverty and disappointment, among others, to come unto Him for rest and ease. Come and partake in the covenant of peace and blessing, which He offered us at Easter, so that it shall be well with you.
