Okonkwo tells Odukoya at 60, I’m proud of you

Who Would Have Thought That Today, Many Lives Would Be Impacted By This Man?

Presiding Bishop of The Redeemed Evangelical Mission (TREM), Dr. Mike Okonkwo, has commended the Senior Pastor of Fountain of Life Church, Pastor Taiwo Odukoya, who clocked 60 years, on Wednesday, June 15, 2016. Speaking at the birthday service organised by Church members to celebrate their Pastor, Taiwo Odukoya and his twin sister, Mrs. Kehinde Hassan, held at the church’s headquarters in Ilupeju, Lagos, Okonkwo, who quoted Psalm 124: 1-8, cited how David was forgotten by his immediate family, when there was need for them to remember him, while some others never saw anything good in him. Despite all these, he said, the Lord was David’s side, noting, “If God is by your side, there is nothing the enemy can do.”

Recalling the tremendous impact the celebrant and his late wife, Bimbo made, when they were members of TREM at the Akoka, Odukoya’s spiritual father, said: “My mind goes back to those years in Akoka and I can’t believe you were in your 20s at that time. I remember in those days that Pastor Bimbo would come with a baby’s cot and would be driving mosquitoes away from the baby’s cot in the night. They would stay very late in the night, while holding meetings.

They would ensure that the university community received the gospel of God. They raised money to print a magazine and it started spreading around the university community. They were fire for Jesus Christ. Who would have thought that today, many lives would be impacted by this man? Now after many years, we are seeing the impact being made in different parts of the world. That is why I’m proud of you; I just thank God for you. You have experienced challenges, which you overcame before reaching this point. One thing I always say to people is: ‘don’t tell me how successful you are, but how many scars you have.’

“What are the scars you have that made you stand? Because people may think it is easy, but when the tempest rages and the enemies came like a flood… We all know how Pastor Bimbo was celebrated in this country and how she burst into the gospel arena like … and suddenly, she disappeared like a flash of lightening. What would you do? When your miracle is close and such happens, what would you do? The enemy thought he had finished Fountain of Life Church, but here we are, going from glory to glory. God sent me to tell you that He is with you and that you have not seen anything yet. He will fight your battles. He will silence the enemy’s voice. Your expectations will not be cut off in the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth. God will continue to enlarge your coast and that is the truth because He is with you. He will never leave you nor forsake you. It will never happen,” he said.
