Deputy Coordinator of the Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI), Lagos Central Zone, Mr. Owofadeju Oludotun, has reminded parents that they are the first teachers of their children and should do everything possible to give them preliminary parental training by nurturing them with God’s word and living by example for them to emulate.
He said parents would render account of how they brought up their wards to God on the last day.
The Deputy Coordinator also called on the government to support parents’ efforts by adding religious subject in the school syllabus, so that children would be equipped with God’s word, noting that this would make righteousness to reign in the country.
Oludotun, who spoke in Lagos on the topic, ‘Let Them Come Unto Me’, during a music competition organised for nine schools, comprising junior and senior categories, warned that any music composed outside the title would be nullified.
There was also a basketball competition at the event held at Love World International College, Ikeja, Lagos.
According to the Deputy Coordinator, the event coincided with the Children’s Day celebration because it was aimed at inculcating the spirit of love in the children such that whether they won or lost, they would cherish the joy of participation.
“We are discouraging the spirit of ego in the children and from being attracted by mundane things of the world. We want them to know God and be positively influenced by the word of God, hence the restriction of the music composition with warning to adhere strictly to the title given to them,” Oludotun said.
