Spiritual Warfare – Part 2
The third is the preparation of the gospel of peace (Ephesians 6: 15). An important aspect of our spiritual strength is in the obedience to the great commission. “Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen,” Matthew 28:19-20.
You cannot be a preacher of the Word and still live your life anyhow. You are the living Epistle men are always reading. The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life; and he that winneth souls is wise. Proverbs 11:30
And they that are wise shall shine. “And they that be wise shall shine as the brightness of the firmament; and they that turn many to righteousness as the stars for ever and ever. Daniel 12: 3.
You do not only preach by speaking, you preach also by the manner you live your life. Are you worthy to be followed? Are you an example? Are you a model to behold?
Fourthly, it is to take on the Shield of Faith (Ephesians 6:16a). Your faith is your belief in the God that you serve; belief in His Word, promises and prophecies. “For without faith it is absolutely impossible to please God,” Hebrews 11: 6. Your faith is the currency with which you can receive anything from the Lord. Faith in Him can make you achieve outstanding things.
Isaiah 50:7: “For the Lord God will help me; therefore, shall I not be confounded: therefore have I set my face like a flint, and I know that I shall not be ashamed.”
To set my face like a flint is faith. Make daily confessions that will strengthen your faith; “I believe Him, I cannot see shame. I cannot fail, I cannot be stopped, and I cannot be wasted. I believe Him for who He is. I believe Him for what He has said.”
Your faith is an expression of your relationship with Him. Miracles are wrought by the power of faith. We can only overcome the enemy by our faith in God. Doubt and unbelief are hindrances to spiritual exploit.
Romans 9:33 says: “As it is written, Behold, I lay in Zion a stumbling stone and rock of offence: and whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed.” It was faith that made Peter walk on water, but when unbelief set in, he began to sink in the same water.
“And he did not do many mighty works there because of their unbelief,” Matthew 13:58. The man the enemy fears most is a man of faith. Nothing can resist the power of faith.
Fifth is the Sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God (Ephesians 6: 17). The Word of God is magnified here again. Truth is established through and by His Word. It is a two-edged sword with which you tear and destroy the Devil’s wiles. His Word is a light and a lamp that directs and makes you escape the enemy’s darts. “I will instruct thee and teach thee in the way which thou shalt go: I will guide thee with mine eye,” Psalm 32:8.
Joshua 1:8 says: “This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.” The word of God is a defense to us.
Finally, Prayers (Ephesians 6:18). Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the spirit. This shows that there are different forms of prayers.
