Two are always better than one. A strong gentle partner can break and tame a difficult spouse and rein him or her in. You can overwhelm your spouse with prayers and love. Your home will endure in Christ Jesus.

Bible Passage: Gen 2:15-25

Introduction: It is so easy to become disillusioned about your spouse and the marriage. Expectations can easily and quickly diminish. For others, the marriage grows stronger over time and like sweet matured wine becomes fuller and sweeter. The difference can be found in some key Christian virtues: Prayer, Patience, Perseverance, Sacrifice, Selflessness, Wisdom and Understanding, Grace and fear of the Lord– Pro.14: 1.
The Potters House

Physical beauty will sooner or later fade. We all blossom and flourish in the days of our youth and then wither and fade with age. Each party must bring more than a pretty face or a sculptured body to the table, although there is nothing wrong with good looks in themselves. To neglect looks will hurt the majority of marriages, where the parties walked by sight. It is just that in reality, good looks alone cannot sustain a Christian home. Parties must become clay in the potter’s hand to transform good looks into inner beauty. Cultures and religions tend to overburden one party or the other with the responsibility of making the marriage an enduring success, but it will always take both parties in a truly Christian home, 1 Pt.3: 1-6; Pro.11: 16a; Pro.27: 15-16; Titus 2:4-5; Jam.3: 17; Jn.15: 3; Jn.17: 17; Eph. 5:26; 1 Pt.1: 22. Parties must be resolute in their conviction that marriage is for life. The best of marriages is forged in the furnace of pain and triumph.
Building Tools

Submission is one of the key tools here. This is generally understood to mean the wife must submit to her husband, as stated in Ephesians 5:22. When differences become irreconcilable, one party has to give in for the union to move on and that party is the wife. On the other hand, Eph 5:25 ask husbands to love their wives, as Christ loved the church to the point where He died for her. A Christ-like husband is not likely to have submission issues. On the other hand, a selfish and abusive husband will tend to experience many difficult issues with submission, Pro.31: 11-12, 26-27; Jam.1: 19; Pro.15: 1-2.

Conclusion

Two are always better than one. A strong gentle partner can break and tame a difficult spouse and rein him or her in. You can overwhelm your spouse with prayers and love. Your home will endure in Christ Jesus.
