We Shall Not Rest Until Others Are Saved (1)

BRETHREN, if we say that we are in Christ, we should not relax because we are saved or members of our families are saved and are going to heaven. We should not rejoice for being the only people going to heaven, while millions of other people are going to hell fire and among these people are our neighbours and friends. Such rejoicing is contrary to the will of God.

1 Tim. 2:3-4 says, “For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour; 4. Who would have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth.”

It is the will of God that all men should be saved. This is in accordance with His benevolent nature and He made ample provision for it. God is love and has a nature of mercy. Thus, He does not want anybody to perish. He wants all men to be saved. If men perish, it is because they refused to come to the Lord for salvation; not that the Lord is not willing to save them.

Jn 3:16 says, “For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”

God gave Jesus to the whole world that they might be saved.  It is never His will that any soul should perish. He loves every soul and wants everybody to be saved. He does not have pleasure in the death or destruction of any sinner.

Before the manifestation of our Lord Jesus Christ, the entire world was in ruins, and exposed to the wrath of God. All men were in a hopeless condition until God gave His Son. Man had no claim on Him; it was a gift, an undeserved gift. He gave Him up to extreme sufferings, even the bitter pains of death on the cross so that the whole world would through Him be saved. It is for the world that the Son of God tasted death. The sacrifice of Jesus was the only means by which the redemption of man could be affected, and it is absolutely sufficient to accomplish this gracious design.

1 Pt 3:9 says, “The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.”

This is the mind of God. It is not His will that any should perish. If we claim to be Children of God, it, therefore, behoves on us to respect the will of our Father and Master. We must do everything to ensure that all are saved. God has no pleasure in the death of a sinner. So, our salvation and joy will not be completed until others are saved. The Lord has saved us so that we will be instrument to help others to be saved. No one who claimed to be born again should relax or close his/her eyes to the souls that are perishing.

Beloved, we have been commanded to go to the whole world and preach to all creatures. And this should be our duty as born again Christians. We must have the mind of our Master Jesus Christ, Who wishes all to be saved. If we say that we are the disciples of Jesus Christ, we must have compassion for the perishing souls like our Lord. All we do must be geared toward ensuring that others might be saved. That we have an increase in armed robbery, prostitution and cultism among others is as a result of our inability to keep to our divine commission. If we are to meet the demand of the grace upon us as born again Christians, we must ensure that others are saved. We should not be contented until we bring others to Christ.

Rom. 10:1-3 says, “Brethren, my heart’s desire and prayer to God for Israel is, that they might be saved.”

The desire and prayer of Apostle Paul was that the nation of Israel might be saved. And he never rested until his desire was met. So, also we believers should not rest until others are saved.
