Why is God silent on our nation?

Turn at my rebuke; Surely I will pour out my spirit on you; I will my words known to you. Because I have called and you refused, I have stretched out my hand and no one regarded, Because you disdained all my counsel, And would have none of my rebuke, I also will laugh at your calamity; I will mock when your terror comes like a storm, And your destruction comes like a whirlwind, When distress and anguish come upon you.

“Then they will call on me, but I will not answer; They will seek me diligently, but they will not find me. Because they hated knowledge And did not choose the fear of the LORD, They would have none of my counsel And despised my every rebuke. Therefore they shall eat the fruit of their own way, And be filled to the full with their own fancies, For the turning away of the simple will slay them, And the complacency of fools will destroy them; But whoever listens to me will dwell safely, And will be secure, without fear of evil.” Proverbs 1:23-33.

UNDERSTANDING the acts of God is what we all must desire. God’s plan for Nigeria will surely come to pass and nothing will stop it. In our land things will change. Our children will move freely without fear or rancour, and basic amenities will be available to all. There will be a revival soon! Let our Daniel stop eating the sumptuous meal from the King’s table. Let our Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego not compromise their faith. Let our Elijah speak with boldness. Let our Paul be ready to start the revival! No nation of the world prays or fast like Nigeria. The more we pray the less of God we see. Churches are filled, yet sinners are on the increase. Christians are in authority and corruption has become uncontrollable. Then there is a need to ask the question, ‘why is God silent on our nation?’

• God is silent in our nation, when our priests who are supposed to speak to God on our behalf and plead for God’s mercy over our nation have soiled their hands with corruption. They have become men with unclean lips and filthy garments, and they have derailed from following the ways of God. They carry title without God’s glory. But God sits in Heaven and judgment awaits them all.

• God is silent in our nation, when our Prophets prophesy lies all for the gain of money. They say ‘thus says the Lord’ when the Lord has not spoken. They call the name of God in vain because of their selfish interest. They speak vanity just to gain the favour of the rich and politicians. Their end is closer because very soon, the good Lord will sweep our nation with His fire and they shall be rooted out.

• God is silent in our nation, when Pastors who should be custodians of the word of God, and feed the shepherd with the truth, dwell greatly in lies and iniquity. They have left their first love (Jesus Christ) to pursue vanity. They carry the Bible but refuse to live by God’s principles. They make much noise but no impact. They use blood money to build Cathedrals, and God refuses to dwell in them. Very soon, such Cathedrals will become empty. God does not dwell in Cathedrals but in the hearts of men.

• God is silent in our nation, when the altar of God has been turned into a business centre. The place called sacred has become where all manner of ungodly people stand to do ungodly acts. We make fun of Him and allow comedians to call His name in vain. We use His altar to promote ungodly politicians all for our gain and not for the gain of heaven. Blatant lies come from the altar today, and we share testimonies of what God did not do.
