Nigerian Idol V : Dolu, K-Peace Go Toe-To-Toe

IT is down to the final wire as the fifth season of the Etisalat-sponsored Nigerian Idol draws to a close next weekend, with the small, but very mighty, Dolu, and the king of Fuji and originality, K-Peace, going toe-to-toe for the last time, as they slug it out for the cash prize of N7.5 million, a brand new car and a recording deal with Universal Music Company worth N7.5 million.

With 25-year old vocal power house, Dolu, who has grown in leaps and bounds in the course of the competition, the bubbly civil servant is set to take the music world by storm if Nigerians see her as the next big music superstar to blossom on the Nigerian Idol platform.

With her vocal prowess, outstanding stage presence, easy-going personality and infectious smile, Dolu has wowed the judges and the viewing public with Nigerian and International classics as well as top hit songs over the last four months.

From her audition in Ibadan, Dolu has proven that rapid growth and improvement is her major strength.

Is she fit to outshine the King of Fuji, K-Peace to become the fourth female Nigerian Idol? K-Peace is known as the king of fuji and originality on the show and has been called a ‘star’ by numerous guest judges; He is one contestant that has won the hearts and love of the judges and general public.

With his fuji version of the popular John Legend song, All of Me, K-Peace won a golden ticket into the competition and since then has continued to build a strong fan base in the nation.

K-Peace sees the Nigerian Idol platform as the needed opportunity to launch him into the league of his mentors and idols in the industry.

Will his over whelming stage presence, dramatic performances, vocal dexterity and charming personality, outshine the vocal powerhouse Dolu and make him emerge as the second male Nigerian Idol? The top two contestants will be taking on three performances this night, ranging from songs from African legends, judges and Idol’s choice songs.

Dolu will tackle Onyeka Onwenu’s One Love, Time After Time by Cyndi Lauper and Conqueror by Estelle, while K-Peace will fight the last battle with African Style by Bright Chimezie, Try Jah Love by Third World and All of Me by John Legend.

However, Nigerians will decide yet again the winner of the season V Nigerian Idol competition at the showdown on Saturday, June 13, holding at the Nigerian Idol studio in Bamako Estate, Omole Phase 1, Lagos. Tonight’s show will air on local TV stations and cable networks like STV, NTA, TVC, Superscreen TV, Hip TV, Rave TV, Smash.
