Okpara Varsity Launches Intra-Campus Taxis, Shuttles

During the commissioning of the 20 branded Suzuki Cars for the Taxi Shuttle, which were added to the 20 cabs and buses previously operating in the campus, the Vice Chancellor, Professor Hilary Odo Edeoga announced the immediate banning of commercial motorcycle operations within the Campus.

He said the taxis were introduced for the convenience of the students, while the buses were to save the staff and students from extortions by commercial transport operators from the university gate to Umuahia and back.

It was stated that the intra-campus taxi shuttle is free of charge for students on presentation of their Identity Cards, while the buses are to charge N100 fare from Umudike to and fro town.

The taxi and bus shuttle service is managed by Aeon Trading Consult Ltd while it was gathered that the students paid N4, 000 per year along with their school fees, for the intra-campus taxi service.

Acknowledging the big relief and immense service the intra-campus taxi shuttle has brought to them, the Vice President of the Students Union Government, Miss Maria Ukonu, expressed gratitude to the Vice Chancellor for always addressing their well being.
