The miracle thieves

A miracle is an extraordinary happening that cannot be explained by natural or scientific laws. It is also when God suspends natural law for the supernatural to take place. In our text, we see Jesus walking on water. This is a miracle. Jesus gave His disciples direction to go to the other side, yet they experienced storm on the way. Understand that if Jesus sets you on a journey or assignment, that does not exempt you from troubles. John Manson said, “A road without obstacles leads nowhere.” Storms will come, but Jesus promised never to leave you alone. Note that the storm came at the 4th watch of the night, when it seems like there is no help and no hope, but there comes Jesus. The 4th watch here is the thickest part of the night, yet it is just before the break of day. Whatever storms you’re going through right now, I congratulate you because your day is about to break forth.

When the disciples saw someone walking on water, they were gripped with fear. Men often fear, when they don’t understand what is happening around them. The enemies can throw so many things at you that you don’t understand. All of these are just to bring fear to you and the more you focus on them, the more fearful you become. Fear can be spelt in this acronym as False Evidence Appearing Real. When you see a shadow or symptom, it is not the main thing.

Peter saw Jesus walking on water and in excitement, he stepped out too and got the miracle, but he could not sustain it. So are men today. They get their miracle but lose it. Some years ago, a man who had hearing problem for several years was healed at one of our services. A year after, he lost this great testimony and I began to understand that there are three thieves that can steal men’s miracles. The first of them is Sight. The devil gives you a mental picture of a situation and uses this to introduce doubt into your mind. Whenever you quit working by faith, you begin to walk by sight (2Cor. 5:7). In the school of faith, what you see matters, but that is not the substance. The devil could throw symptoms like a boisterous wind to make so much noise and cause you to doubt. Such symptoms give you a mental picture of doubt, which the devil uses to steal away your miracle.

This can bring depression to the victim, causing him/her to believe there is no hope. May the mighty hand of God delete every wrong picture presented to you by the enemy in Jesus name. The moment Peter shifted his focus from his miracle to the wind; he began to sink. What the devil does is to take your attention, so he can give you direction. Instead of Peter moving forward, he was going down. Heb. 12:2 says, “Look unto Jesus the Author and Finisher of our faith.” Our focus should be on Jesus, the Word of God (Jn. 1:1-3). When you get a prophecy that you shall get married, be pregnant, or get a job, for instance, the devil will bring a boisterous wind for you to focus on, but you must reject it and focus on what God says. The storm will definitely pass away. For a woman believing God for a child, she could get pregnant and suddenly begin to spot, thinking that the pregnancy is no more there. But if you focus on the Word of God, there shall be no loss and you shall carry your baby joyfully. If you have ever been through a storm, observe that you may not find any trace of the sun, but darkness all over.

The truth is that the sun is permanent, but the dark clouds will surely fade away. 2Cor. 4:18 says that the storm, which we see, is temporal, but the promises of God are eternal. Jer. 1:11-12 is asking us today, “What do you see?” Your faith must be based on the Word of God, and not what man says. Search out the Word yourself and stand on it. Man can fail you. Confess the Word and get your possession. God says He will hasten His word to perform It. What you see is what you conceive, and what you conceive is what you deliver. So, be careful what you see.
