God’s Written Word Needs To Be Announced

It is not enough to have a Bible. There are well over 10,000 promises written in the Bible. All of these remain fallow until you tap into them. You must put voice to the written Word for it to become activated. In Isaiah 7:14, it is written, “…a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son…” Yet, this written Word remained fallow until many years later, when God had to release angel Gabriel, God’s spokesman. He put voice to the written word of God; “…angel Gabriel was sent from God…to a virgin espoused to a man whose name was Joseph…and the angel came in unto her, and said…thou shall conceive in thy womb, and bring forth…” – Luke 1:26-31

Have you noticed throughout the four gospels that Jesus never prayed for the sick? He never prayed for the dead. He just pronounced. “Rise up, take up your bed and go home.” At the tomb of Lazarus: ‘Lazarus, come forth.” To the sick young girl: “Tabitha Cummi little maid I say unto you arise.” To the winds and the waves: ‘Peace is still.” To the barren fig tree: “From now henceforth let no man eat the fruit of you, forever.”

In fact, so efficient was Jesus in the prophetic that the Centurion, whose servant was sick, sent a message to Jesus. “There is no need for you to come to my house JUST SPEAK THE WORD.”

Prophetic Announcement Supercedes Praying
Moses had been weeping at the Red Sea. God told him that it was not the time to cry. He commanded Moses to stand up and speak the Word and then use the rod of authority that he had placed in his hand.

Hannah had been fasting, praying and weeping for years with no result. But the day Eli the priest spoke a simple word over her life from the altar of God’s temple, Heaven confirmed it and the padlock on her womb was broken. God is waiting for somebody to speak. Indeed, the whole of creation is groaning for the release and manifestation of this prophet’s cry.

Prophetic Utterances Have The Power And Ability To Bring Into Effect Radical And Dramatic Results
Take a look at II Kings 7:1: “Then Elisha said, Hear ye the word of the Lord thus said the LORD, Tomorrow about this time shall a measure of fine flour be sold for a shekel, and two measures of barley for a shekel, in the gate of Samaria.”

At this time, there was economic strangulation in the land, so much so that people were dying of hunger. The famine was so intense that mothers killed, boiled and ate their children. Doom and gloom was on every face. There was no iota of hope for the nation from anywhere. Then, a prophet of God came. He was provoked by the prevailing negative and frustrating condition. Moved by the Spirit of God, he spoke forth, and in less than 24 hours, everything in the city turned around. Prophetic utterances are supposed to affect the economy, industry, government, and the entire nation.

The Need For The Emergence Of True Prophets
In the book of Amos 3:6-8, we read. “Shall a trumpet be blown in the city, and the people not be afraid? (Trumpet blowing has to do with preaching/prophecy and prophetic actions). Shall there be evil in a city, and the LORD hath not done it?”

Note: again, God is talking about cities why? Because prophets are gifts to the land .

“Surely the LORD God will do nothing, but he revealeth his secret unto his servants the prophets. The lion hath roared, who will not fear? The LORD God hath spoken, who can but prophesy?” He then goes on to say in verse 9, “Publish in the palaces at Ashdod, and in the palaces in the land of Egypt…”

That is to say that without the prophet’s word, the land cannot prosper. I know almost every man of God will call himself a prophet, but the truth is that most are priests and not prophets, because if the land were to have true prophets, we would not be in the mess we are in today.

“Hear me, 0 Judah, and you inhabitants of Jerusalem; (Note: God was addressing a nation, that is the land). Believe in the LORD your God, and you shall be established; believe His prophets and you shall prosper.” – II Chronicles 20:20 (NKJV)

So, prophets are set in the land to help move that land forward. “And the elders of the Jews builded, and THEY PROSPERED through the prophesying of Haggai the prophet and Zechariah the son of Iddo. And they builded, and finished it. –Ezra 6:14

“And by a prophet the LORD brought Israel out of Egypt, and by a prophet was he preserved” -Hosea 12:13

As earlier quoted in Amos 3:6-9, the ministry of the prophet affects thrones and palaces. That is to say, national deliverance requires the prophet’s ministry. The deliverance of your tribe and community needs the prophet.
