According to the immutable word of God, one of the unmistakable and prominent features of the last days is the entry of demonic doctrine into the church. “Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils;” (1 Tim 4:1). The Scriptures says that in the latter times or the last days, some (members of the church, Christians) shall depart from the faith that comes from God’s Word (Romans 10:17) and give heed to seducing (deceiving and lying) spirits and doctrines of devils (demons).

This is a prophecy concerning the large-scale apostasy that will characterise the last day church. Please, note that the last days began the day Jesus was born according to Heb. 1:1-2. “God, who at sundry times and in divers manners spake in time past unto the fathers by the prophets, Hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds;” (Heb. 1:1-2).

This apostasy of I Tim. 4:1 does not speak of a glaring and naked denial of the Lord Jesus Christ. It speaks of a subtle deception, a demonic seduction from the revelation of the Word of God, whereby men would speak LIES IN HYPOCRISY, substituting for the Word of God, the commandments and doctrines of men and making the Word of God of non-effect through the traditions of men. These would be lies, covered by the flesh of the Word of God, using the Bible to prop up teachings that do not agree with the mind of God. Every good minister of God has been enjoined to put the brethren in remembrance of this (I Tim 4:6).

Moreover II Tim. 4:3-4 talks about a time in the life of the spiritual Israel, when men shall not endure sound doctrine. “For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables” (II Tim. 4:3-4).

This “time” happened in the life of natural Israel, when Moses went up the mountain to receive the Law and he tarried. The children of Israel, in the long absence of Moses, raised up another teacher unto themselves and he promptly led them into idolatry. This “time” must also occur in the life of the spiritual Israel during the long absence of the Lord Jesus, when He went up on the mountain to receive the Kingdom. The time is in the tarrying period of the last days, days in which we are presently living. These are the days when the saints of God are not enduring sound doctrine. They are raising teachers unto themselves, to tell them that which is pleasing and gratifying to their carnal and worldly appetites. These teachers have led the church of God into unsound (Demonic) doctrines, and have turned the ears of the saints of God from the truth.

With these Scriptures and many other prophetic Scriptures concerning the state of the church in the last days, it is clear that whether we acknowledge it or not, demonic doctrines are in the church today. Heaven and earth shall pass away, but the Word of God shall not pass away. Church leaders all over the world, today, are playing the proverbial ostrich, pretending that all is well with the church. But let God be true and all church leaders be liars. The Word of God has spoken it, and so it is. Amen!
