the teamNew Day II project, in conjunction with Search for Common Ground (SFCG), with funding from the European Union, released has released a TV series across the country titled, The Team Nigeria.

The 13-episode of 30-minute TV drama merges the global appeal of soccer/football with soap opera, and will help transform social attitudes and diminish violent behaviour in countries grappling with deeply rooted conflict. The series, in addition to being produced in Nigeria, has a spin-off in 19 other countries.

The programme stars Nollywood stars such as Keppy Ekpenyong Tope Tedela, Meg Otanwa, Homsook, Adafe Jaja and Kevin Ikeduba among others. It was directed by award-winning Kenneth Gyang and produced by Dimbo Atiya, with inputs from veteran Hollywood screenwriter, Deborah Jones and CNN Multi-Choice African Journalists Award Nominee, Obinna Chukwuezie.

According to Atiya, “The programme was initiated in order to enhance a peaceful electoral process in 2015, as well as increase acceptance of non-violent methods for conflict resolution in the Niger Delta region. We thank God for its contributions to these. Currently, Search for Common Ground, as an international non-profit organization, works from 50 offices in 35 countries with the mission to transform the way the world deals with conflict, away from adversarial approaches toward cooperative solutions”.
