The cleric, who reached the milestone on March 7, described the celebration as a blessing expressed and said he was thankful for being useful to serve God as a minister of the gospel.

In his testimony, he said old age can be scary, but be a blessing in disguise.
“For the Christian each day, each month, each year, is a gift of grace. We have birthdays every year, but ending in zero always seem bigger, especially at 70 which has the extra power of biblical authority.

“The days of our life are seventy years, or perhaps eighty, if we are strong; even then their span is only toil and trouble; they are soon gone, and we fly away. The figure 70 reminds us of the Christian practice of a good spiritual discipline. The things we give up at 70 are often forever.

“There is something which everybody wants and yet almost everyone fears. Growing old can be scary but if you know life itself can’t be eternal, then you will accept that old age is a blessing in disguise,” he said.

Relating how he ended up being a pastor instead of realising his dream of being an accountant, Uwandu said he graduated from higher institution with an accounting degree, through the grace of God, he became a minister.

He said: “I try to reject it because then I was the firstborn and we all know how responsibilities falls on firstborn. I questioned how I was going to cater for my parents and siblings when a pastor then told me I was going to be a cleric. I told him it wouldn’t be possible, but God proved me wrong. Today, I am a man of God and proud to be one.”

Uwandu advised the youths and evangelists to put God first in their endeavours for them to succeed.

“My advice to ministers of God and the young ones in the ministry is to believe that with the Almighty anything is possible. You should watch the kind of friends and gathering you move with because that goes a long way. When you stay with God in all you do, you will succeed,” he stated.
