Ways of attracting divine intervention
1st Samuel 2:30, “Wherefore the Lord God of Israel saith, I said indeed that thy house, and the house of thy father, should walk before me forever: but now the Lord saith, Be it far from me; for them that honour me I will honour, and they that despise me shall be lightly esteemed.”
God’s visitation in the life of any man is always accompanied by a number of beneficial factors, leading to a remarkable change in the beneficiary’s life. Divine intervention does not come from the blues, as there must be a level of commitment that will attract God’s visitation into an individual’s life. In the introductory scripture, God clearly stated that He would honour the people that honour Him. God’s honour comes in many ways, but whatever the form it takes, the beneficiary’s life must change for the better. There are means through which a man attracts God’s attention, leading to blessings in different measures, protection from the enemy, and granting of eternal life in heaven.
In Exodus 23:25-27, the Bible says, “And ye shall serve the Lord your God, and he shall bless thy bread, and thy water; and I will take sickness away from the midst of thee. 26 There shall nothing cast their young, nor be barren, in thy land: the number of thy days I will fulfill. 27 I will send my fear before thee, and will destroy all the people to whom thou shalt come, and I will make all thine enemies turn their backs unto thee”.
The scripture above is packed with goodies. The food you eat will be blessed to give nourishment to your body, and the water that will fall into your land will make it fertile enough to grow crops for better yields in the field. Again, you will not die young, but live healthy to fulfill your years. You will also be fruitful, both in your body and in the field. God will fight your enemies and make them run away from you and all that belongs to you. God is promising all these, only if you render faithful service to Him. The Divine promise will surely come to pass. God does not make a statement and renege on it. Whatever He says must come to pass at the appointed time.
In Malachi 3:16-17, the Bible makes a case for the people that serve God thus: “Then they that feared the Lord spake often one to another: and the Lord hearkened and heard it, and a book of remembrance was written before him for them that feared the Lord, and that thought upon his name. 17 And they shall be mine, saith the Lord of hosts, in that day when I make up my jewels; and I will spare them, as a man spareth his own son that serveth him”.
The people that fear the Lord are His children. Their names are written in the book of remembrance. To such people, God will always give protection because they are obedient to His Word to serve Him according to the Divine Will. God demands honour from His children; He also wants unconditional obedience to His words.
In Acts of Apostle 16:23-30, the Bible says, “And at midnight Paul and Silas prayed, and sang praises unto God: and the prisoners heard them. 26 And suddenly there was a great earthquake so that the foundations of the prison were shaken: and immediately all the doors were opened, and everyone’s bands were loosed. 27 And the keeper of the prison awaking out of his sleep, and seeing the prison doors open, he drew out his sword and would have killed himself, supposing that the prisoners had been fled. 28 But Paul cried with a loud voice, saying, Do thyself no harm: for we are all here. 29 Then he called for a light, and sprang in, and came trembling, and fell down before Paul and Silas, 30 And brought them out, and said, Sirs, what must I do to be saved”? The prayer of a righteous man avails much because God gives attention and listening ear to the righteous. God wants to save the Jailer by using the prayers of Apostle Paul and Silas to open the prison doors, yet He kept the prisoners. That was why the jailer or the warder requested what it will take for him to be saved. For your blessings, protections, and eternal life, God wants the salvation of our souls to be the priority of every man. As soon as one receives our Lord Jesus Christ, his soul becomes saved. Heaven will recognise the person and God takes over the person’s affairs. Whatever he does will be taken note of in heaven. God will answer his prayers and ensure his protection from the enemies and agents of the darkness. When one is saved, he is always obedient to the Word of God, and God, in turn, blesses him. This was the case of Abraham that earned him the name, the father of faith and the spiritual father of all Christians.
In Genesis 22:16-18, the Bible says, “And said, By myself have I sworn, saith the Lord, for because thou hast done this thing, and hast not withheld thy son, thine only son: 17 That in blessing I will bless thee, and in multiplying I will multiply thy seed as the stars of the heaven, and as the sand which is upon the seashore; and thy seed shall possess the gate of his enemies; 18 And in thy seed shall all the nations of the earth be blessed; because thou hast obeyed my voice”. If you read from the beginning of this chapter, God instructed Abraham to use his only son, Isaac for a burnt sacrifice. He obeyed without questions, but as he was about killing the boy, an angel of God called him and showed him the ram prepared for the burnt offering.
At the end of the sacrifice, the angel called again, telling him that God had taken an oath to bless him, by multiplying him, both in the fruit of the womb and in material wealth. He will defeat his enemies and through him, (Abraham) all the nations of the earth will be blessed. How did Abraham merit this privilege? Simply by obeying the voice of God. Abraham was, indeed, blessed in all things, as the Bible records in Genesis 24:1. Obedience to the Word of God brings Divine intervention, leading to various blessings and protections.
In Isaiah 54:17, it is written, “No weapon that is formed against thee shall prosper, and every tongue that shall rise against thee in judgment thou shalt condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord, and their righteousness is of me, saith the Lord”. The people who serve the Lord and obey His voice are both children and servants of God, and the Bible says that any harm planned against them by their enemies will fail because God continuously gives them protection. God is interested in their lives and will not allow harm to befall them.
The relationship between God and His creatures is for the creature to always recognise the supremacy of God and accord Him awesome reverence due to Him, being ready to obey Him in all things, just as Abraham, Moses, etc did. Based on our covenant with Him, ours is to render service and be obedient to His words, while He offers protection and provisions. To draw His attention to your life, simply obey His words, and you will mightily be blessed in Jesus’ name.
Testimony Of The Lord’s Doing
From Abject Poverty To Supersonic Blessing
In Proverbs 10:22, the Bible says, “The blessings of the Lord, it maketh rich, and he addeth no sorrow with it”. God knows how and when to touch on the lives of the people that serve Him with all their hearts. He does not allow His people to continue suffering in shame. God proved this fact in my life, as He catapulted me from abject poverty to supersonic prosperity. By God’s grace, I trained as an Accountant and was working in a company, but the salary was nothing to write home about. It was not enough to feed my family, much less making some savings for the rainy day. I was living in a public compound, derogatorily called face-me-I- slap-you. At that time, even the poor called me a poor woman. I was borrowing money from people. I was preparing pots of soup for my family with only N50. Whenever my children fell sick, there would be no money to take them to the hospital or to even buy drugs for them. There was a woman that took it upon herself to mock me every day, but I was bearing it all because of poverty.
Based on the paucity of the take-home package from my place of work, I threw in the towel and started a phone call business under a bridge at Ikeja. While on this business, my younger sister invited me to a programme at the Lord’s Chosen. I came, and when I listened to the undiluted Word of God from the man-of-God, I took a decision to join the ministry, which I did. I held unto God and continued faithfully in the ministry. While making the commercial phone calls, my husband and I started selling recharge cards. As God would have it, someone gave us some handsets to sell. We then started selling mobile phones. Unfortunately, on the orders of the then Governor of Lagos State, Babatunde Raji Fashola, the place where we were selling phones was demolished. I then moved to Arena Market in Oshodi. By the grace of God, someone gave me some clothes for sale and I started selling clothes. The man usually travelled to China every week.
By holding unto God, the cloth business was thriving. Then I asked the person supplying me the clothes what it would take to travel to China to import clothes. The man refused to tell me. Fortunately, from another source, someone told me that with N2m, one could go to China to buy whatever he or she wants.
When I got this information, the money was not available, but I started preparing. Eventually, I raised money and went to China to import some clothes. At that time, the reigning fashion was spaghetti sleeves and bumper shorts. Some people started mocking me again, saying that even the Chosen people do not buy the dresses I imported. I stopped for some time, but when I started again, I had a connection with a white man, who supplied me with the clothes. From this point, the business started growing. I travel to China regularly and import containers every week. Presently, I have over 30 shops in Arena Market. Recently, I took inventory of my stock, and by the grace of God; my goods are worth over N1 billion.
Today, as God will have it, those children trained with N50-pot of soup are competing with the children of the elite class in Covenant University and the University of Lagos. God has remembered me, and I am blessed among the blessed.
I encourage everyone and urge them to continue, because perseverance brings freedom, as our Pastor usually advises us and as you do so, God will visit you at your point of need.
I pray for our General Pastor and his family, pastors and members of Chosen worldwide, heaven at last.
May the name of the Lord be glorified!
Sister Mary Okafor, Ilupeju, Lagos State.
