No consensus on principal officers’ election as Senate resumes
After more than two weeks of recess, the Senate resumes plenary today to face some of its topmost constitutional and legislative duties amid high-level intrigues that have characterised the election of its eight principal officers, with the Majority and Minority leaders due to emerge today. As at press time, it was not clear if the Majority and Minority caucuses were ready with the list of their principal officers.The Senate’s standing Rule has spelt out the functions of the Majority leader, the third highest officer of the upper chamber.
