THE robustness of the Nigerian market to multinations came to the fore last week with the assertion by Oracle, a United States of America’s global computer technology corporation, headquartered in Redwood City, California, that it continued to earn more revenue from Nigeria than other African markets including South Africa.

As such, this, according to Oracle’s Senior Vice President, Eastern Europe, CIS, Middle East and Africa, Alfonso Di Ianni, necessitated the need for the the American firm to deepen its various investments in Nigeria.

Di Iaani said to further cement Oracle’s relationship with the Nigerian market, the management has opened new premises in Lagos, which is targeted at further serving the ever-growing market potential in the country and West Africa as a whole.

The Oracle boss, who disclosed that the firm has huge plans for Nigeria, said “growth and earnings from Nigeria are higher than South Africa and others, especially in software and enterprises.”

He disclosed that the over 100 partners of Oracle in Nigeria are the ones making the business to grow exponentially, stressing that the new building was a symbol of the huge demand for Oracle products and solutions in the country.

According to him, all efforts by Oracle are to ensure that Nigeria truly transformed to a digital country as soon as possible. He disclosed that the profile of Oracle in Nigeria is changing very fast, stressing that the firm now have a combination of services, skills and consultants.

Speaking on the new office, Oracle Nigeria’s Country Leader, Adebayo Sanni will house the firm’s sales, human resources, and operational functions to service the West African region.

Oracle’s revenue in the region has grown over the years, along with its partner ecosystem that has increased in size by 30 per cent over the past three years.

Oracle customers are rapidly adopting mobile, social and cloud technologies to transform their businesses, said Sanni, adding, “They are delivering services that weren’t possible before and they are finding very smart ways to bring their products to market. Throughout Africa we have seen remarkable innovation and transformation.

“With cloud adoption rates accelerating, this ability becomes even more prevalent. Software as a Service (SaaS) is becoming ingrained in the sector’s consciousness and Platform as a Service (PaaS) is also gaining traction,” he said. “IT systems have to be fast and simple to be able to be agile.”

We’re very excited by the opening of Oracle’s latest state-of-the-art facility here in Nigeria and look forward to continuing to provide world-class solutions to help our customers and partners innovate and grow in the region.”
