•Pays N48.6b in taxes in 2024
MTN Nigeria has called for collaboration between the public and private sectors to strengthen Nigeria’s tax regime and promote fiscal transparency.
The telecom firm noted that it paid N48.6 billion in taxes in 2024, as a demonstration of the company’s commitment to nation-building.
MTN Nigeria’s Chief Financial Officer, Mr Modupe Kadri, who disclosed this during one of the plenary sessions at the ongoing 27th Annual Tax Conference of the Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria (CITN) in Abuja, highlighted the importance of shared responsibility in building a robust tax framework.
He said: “Tax compliance is critical to national development. At MTN Nigeria, we are fully committed to fulfilling our tax obligations because we understand the role they play in building a stronger country.”
Kadri stated that MTN Nigeria’s participation in the conference is a reflection of its role as a leading voice for transparent, progressive, and inclusive fiscal reform, adding that the company will continue to back initiatives that prioritise policy clarity, simplify compliance, and ensure that tax revenues are responsibly managed for the benefit of citizens.
On his part, CITN President and Council Chairman, Mr Samuel Agbeluyi, called for sustained dialogue between the government and private sector actors to ensure the effective implementation of tax policy and revenue utilisation.
Agbeluyi noted that the success of Nigeria’s economic aspirations rests on closing the gap between policy and practice, adding that for Nigeria to realise its full economic potential, the country must bridge the gap between policy and practice.
