GIG Logistics (GIGL), has launched the first customised last mile delivery app in Nigeria that manages end-to-end pickup and delivery thereby boosting speed and efficiency in business.

Speaking during the launch in Lagos, Chief Operations Officer (COO), Mr. Ayodele Adenaike. GIGGo is the first to handle delivery and pickup nationwide. It handle the pick up from your house and go and deliver it anywhere in the country.

He said the app works like every other order app and it will make it easier for customers and merchants to conveniently make a request in the comfort of their homes and offices.

The app is a two in one – the customer app and partner app. The COO said that the customer app will enable you to order for pick up from the comfort of your house and the nearest delivery partner to you will come to your location and pick up the goods, go and deliver it straight away if it is to be delivered within the same city. But if it’s to be deliver outside that city the partner will take it and drop at the nearest service centre.

“On the partner app- you can sign up as a partner with your vehicle, your bike truck or car, sign up to do delivery for us. If a request is coming from any customer, the application will assign that pick up to the nearest delivery partner and the partner will come to your location and do all necessary.”

Speaking on how the idea started, Adenaike explained that, the company which was incorporated in 2012, started re-engineering their processes in 2015 when people would come to the terminal to send items through their drivers and there is always one issue or another.

This was an opportunity the management saw and the need to do something different using technology. “Technology has evolved over the years, And it will continue to change as we improve as the whole world is now a global village.”

He stressed that the time has come for businesses to constantly look to how to leverage technology and innovation as a competitive hedge, not only to keep ahead of competition, but also prevent their businesses from exclusion.

He also stated that the company has 85 service centres across Nigeria in 26 states, five service centers in Ghana, although he promised that by the end of Q2, 2020 GIG will be in all the states across the nation

According to him, the app promises to expand the operations of the business in the online space to accommodate clients who prefer to transact online.

“The app covers everywhere but we are launching with Lagos and will go to other states, eventually it will cover the whole country but the people in Lagos can order through this app now and their shipment can be delivered anywhere in Nigeria.”
