A Nigerian digital empowerment advocate, Lois Ugbe, is making significant strides in Africa’s tech ecosystem, having trained and mentored over 3,000 individuals across ten countries including Nigeria, Kenya, Ghana, Cameroon, The Gambia, the United Kingdom, South Africa, the UAE, and the United States.
Lois, who holds a degree in Health Education, transitioned into the technology space after university, a move she described as life-changing. Her pivot to tech has not only reshaped her own path but has also created access to digital opportunities for thousands of others.
“My journey into tech was redemptive,” she said. “It gave me a new sense of direction and allowed me to help others step into their own breakthroughs.”
Her impact has been amplified by international recognition and training. In 2022, she was selected for the Academy for Women Entrepreneurs (AWE), a U.S. exchange programme aimed at supporting female entrepreneurs globally. That same year, she was one of only 100 women awarded funding through the Flourish Africa Incubator Programme, an initiative founded by Nigerian philanthropist, Folorunso Alakija.
Lois’s career milestones continued in 2023 when she was chosen out of over 15,000 applicants for the Women Techsters Fellowship. She led a high-performing front-end development team and graduated from the programme with an outstanding score of 88 per cent.
Beyond her work in technology, Lois has volunteered with various initiatives focused on mentoring young women and secondary school students. She has featured as a speaker on platforms such as NTA and Seamfix NextGen Academy. In addition, she leads a daily online prayer community and hosts the Business Mindset Podcast, where she shares practical advice for aspiring entrepreneurs.
Currently, she is preparing to host her first major event, The Big Conference, which is designed to help people transition from feeling stuck to becoming limitless in life and business.
“I want people to know it’s okay to start over,” she said. “Your past doesn’t disqualify you from the future you’re meant to build. I’m proof of that.”
Lois Ugbe’s work continues to resonate across borders, offering a blueprint for transformation and digital inclusion in a time when tech is opening new doors across the continent
