Why your U.S. Visa may not guarantee entry

Think your US visa guarantees entry? Think again! A visa grants you passage to an American port of entry, but a Customs and Border Protection officer makes the final decision on your admission.

Getting your visa is just the first step. You need to be fully prepared to articulate the purpose of your visit and present honest, consistent information to the officer. This preparation is key to a smooth entry process.

Depending on your situation, you may undergo additional screening. This is standard procedure for verification and doesn’t necessarily indicate any wrongdoing on your part.

Before you travel, make sure you understand all entry requirements, have your travel documents organized, and are ready to answer any questions truthfully. A little preparation can go a long way!
