FCT to review Abuja masterplan, suspends tenement rate collection
The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Mohammed Musa Bello, has announced plans to begin a review of the Abuja masterplan, which was adopted in 1979.
The minister spoke during an interactive session with the House of Representatives Committee on FCT, headed by Herman Hembe (APC, Benue).
He said the ministry would hold a stakeholders’ conference on the issue in March 2017.
“We feel the Abuja masterplan should be reviewed. We have started working on this and by March 2017, we will hold a stakeholders’ conference on it,” he said.
Bello stated that the FCT could not cater for the massive influx of people from different parts of the country into the capital city.
According to him, the administration is working on creating informal markets for the people during weekends.
