Residents of Igando New Model Phase Three in Oko Filling area of Alimosho Local Council of Lagos have sent a Save-Our-Soul (SOS) to the state government as flood wreaks havoc in the area.

One of the residents, James Agboola, lamented that for the 15 years that he has been living in the area, they have always suffered from flood each time it rains. He added the flood also killed some of his chicken in his poultry farm.

“We constructed a channel to divert the flood to the main drainage on the Iyana-Iba-Isheri Road but still, flood fights back by settling in front of our houses. We cannot enter our homes whenever it rains. We use pumping machine to pump out water from the houses”, said Agboola

He stressed further that Rosella Resort Centre in the area and other companies in the estate had done all they could to control the flood, all to no avail.

“The swimming pool at the resort has been destroyed. Nobody is patronising the place any longer. It has affected business activities in the estate,” Agboola said..

Residents are calling on the state government to quickly intervene by constructing standard drainage that would channel water to Odo-Eran canal.A landlady in the estate, Mrs. Olatokunbo Ogunmeru, disclosed that efforts to effectively channel the flood had been hampered by the construction of a private mortuary built at the end of Ogunmeru Street. We want government to help us. Our house and cars have been destroyed”.The affected streets in the estate are Ogunmeru, Odubanjo, Otunba Oladokun, and Ovwigho Yoma Avenue.
