Sanwo-Olu pledges support for creative industry

Says Lagos Risks Being Overrun By Waste
Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu has said his administration is committed to providing the needed support for the creative industry, to make it more marketable and sustainable.

Speaking at the opening ceremony of the Inaugural Design Week Lagos Festival, Sanwo-Olu said the aim of his visit to the festival was to make those in the creative industry know that their activities are in tandem with his administration’s policy.

According to the governor, each artwork is unique and priceless, saying the state government, based on its policy thrust was looking for a way to showcase the sector and lift the business side of it.

The Governor commended the organisers of the event and exhibitors for doing a great job, adding that creative industry had several side, which included entertainment, designs, artworks among others.

Meanwhile, Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu has said for Lagos to survive and thrive, environmental issues must be taken seriously, especially because the city combines exploding population with very limited land mass, which puts resources; land, water, and so on, in a very precarious shape.

peaking at the official launch of the Financial Centre for Sustainability, Lagos, the governor said: “As a coastal city, on the edge of the Atlantic Ocean, we are at the mercy of rising sea levels. Our traffic situation means that the population is at the mercy of unchecked levels of emissions arising from the largest concentration of automobiles in Nigeria.

“While all of these issues I’ve outlined above are huge challenges, we must also consider the fact that they present huge opportunities for innovative ways of dealing with our environmental hazards, which must first be seen, and then seized.
