
According to a statement at the weekend by the Imo State Governor, Emeka Ihedioha, the 32-member bid committee is headed by Mr. Dan Ngerem with Chief Fan Ndubuoke, as the Secretary.
The statement added that the governor also wants to use the prominent Nigerians to fast -track sports and youth development in the state.
“In continuation of the ongoing reforms and in realizing the policies of his administration towards fast-tracking sports and youth development in Imo State, Governor Emeka Ihedioha has approved an elaborate bid for the hosting of the 2022 National Sports Festival in Imo State.
“To actualize this lofty objective, a bid committee has been approved by His Excellency,” the statement said, adding that the committee would be inaugurated on November 28 at the Sam Mbakwe Hall, Concord Hotel, Owerri, by 10.00 a.m.
Other members of the committee are Tunji Adeyinka, Jones Onyeriri, ACP Chioma Ajunwa, Dame Comfort Obi, Uche Ogbuagu, Amara Chyna Iwuanyanwu, Ichie Ken Agbim, Mr. Johnbosco Okeahialam, Mr. Reginald Ihebuzor and Dr. Sunny Ogulewe.
Also in the committee are Nze Elvis Agukwe, Comrade Dan Nwayanwu, Mr. Chris Emeka Okeke, Dr. Mitchel Obi, Mr. Leonard Ugboaja, Mr. Okey Onyegbule, Mr. Clement Nwankpa, Ms. Adaora Onyechere and Chief Charity Opara-Asonze.
Also in the committee are the Imo State Director of Sports, Chief Damian Ezeagu, Chinemerem Enweremadu, Mrs. Christy Opara and Mr. Okwun Omeaku.
