The Sports Writers’ Association of Nigeria (SWAN) at the weekend felicitated with Muslims faithful across the country as they commence the month-long Ramadan fast.

In a statement signed by its President, Comrade Ahmed Aigbona and Secretary-General, Comrade Mike Oboh, it enjoined Nigerians to be God-fearing and show love towards one another.

The group stated that the greetings followed the sighting of the Holy Month of Ramadan in Saudi Arabia.

SWAN, therefore, urged Muslims to use the period to pray for an end to the spread of coronavirus, as governments and other stakeholders were working hard to contain the pandemic.

“We for Allah’s mercy, peace, progress and the wellbeing of the country and it is our prayer that Allah accepts the earnest prayers and sacrifices of the Muslim Ummah during this Holy Month,” the statement added.
